TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion examines a claim regarding new restrictions on visa exemptions for entering Thailand. Participants express skepticism, indicating that no official changes have occurred regarding the visa-exempt entries. They clarify that visa exemption is limited to two entries per calendar year via land borders, while there is no stated limit for air entries. Additionally, they note that each visa-exempt entry can be extended by 30 days and advise applying for a tourist visa if planning to stay between 30-90 days.

Thats why its bad to adverise that you can do as many times as you want. You are correct that you can do unlimited exempts if you dont stay in thailand for long time.

Looks like clickbait to me. Nothing about any rules has changed.

Visa exempt is only limited to 2 entries per calendar year at a land border.

There is no limit written into any law or regulation about how many visa exempt entries that can be done through an airport.

Also each visa exempt entry can be extended by 30 days, so you do not have to apply for a tourist visa if you plan to stay more than 30 days. Only if you plan to stay between 60-90 days.

Although anyone staying between 30-60 days absolutely should apply for a tourist visa as it's cheaper than the extension at immigration and it saves you a trip there.

Brandon Thurkettle definitely 👍 Spending an hour applying for a E-visa (for those that can) is way more convenient than spending the better part of a day for extension. Well unless your in Chiang Mai I guess (I was in and out in 20 minutes at the new office at the mall)

Brandon Thurkettle I thought so as well, but I see now the SETV here in NL is 75 euro. But doesn’t matter, still worth the convenience of avoiding wasting a day to get the extension while on holiday.

Last time I used METV, easy to apply, approved in two days. And super convenient when in Thailand. (I spent 6 months)

I will definitely be getting proper visa next time as well, unless I know the trip will be under 30 days.

Yes. I think that’s standard at most EU embassies. At least when I applied last October it was 75 for SETV and 175 for METV.
