Is it possible to get a 30-day stamp at the Sadao border without entering Malaysia or showing financial proof?

For anyone considering a bounce at Sadao, my friend just came back. Despite the horror stories, he said it was remarkably easy and he got a 30 day stamp.

-He did NOT have to enter Malaysia (or stay overnight).

-He did NOT have to show 20,000 baht.

-He did NOT have to show an onward ticket.

-He DID put 300 baht in his passport before entering Thailand. Seems like that helped.

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user shares their friend's experience with crossing the Sadao border into Thailand, detailing that he successfully received a 30-day stamp without entering Malaysia, showing 20,000 baht, or presenting an onward ticket. This brought mixed reactions, with some commenters warning about the legality of this process and the potential risks of bribing immigration officials.

Good for your friend....to bad he is supporting an illegal proces. At the end we will ALL loose by doing it this way and keep paying money to crooked immigration officers.

More and more this is becoming a standard procedure to bribe officials.

I understand that

.

But by doing so you are feeding a "system" that should not be there...and more and more immigration officers will become corrupt. ..and at the end ... It doesn't matter no more if you papers are correct. ...only the money does.

Everybody is complaining that Thailand is corrupt ...well, STOP feeding it !

I'd rather pay a small bribe and be sure of getting in than not pay an maybe be refused.

20k baht & onward ticket is for a 60 day tourist visa. You don't need to show either of that when you arrive in Thailand. Your friend can only get that stamp a max two times per year, so there is one down for him.

Thanx for the update, (y) It would have been good to see what would have been required if he hadn't "pre-greased the wheel" ;)

I worry about greasing they wrong wheel and being busted

You're saying he didn't stamp in and out of Malaysia?

If I was a betting man I'd be he did have to stamp in&out of malaysia
