ORIGINAL POSTER
For a non-O retirement extension, does the 800k baht in the bank need to be in 2 months prior to extension application or the due date?

My due date is June 1. A holiday. How is that handled? Is it a day lost.? Thanks.

TLDR : Answer Summary
For a non-O retirement extension in Thailand, the required 800,000 baht must be in the bank for a minimum of two months prior to the application date, not before your current visa expires. This means if your current stamp expires on June 1, you need to have the requisite funds in the bank by approximately early April. Additionally, if your due date falls on a holiday, it is advisable to apply before the holiday to avoid any complications.

And remember if you're already on a yearly retirement extension where you used banked money method for it you have to get a year detail transaction report printed from your bank to show you kept the seasoning of the funds for this last year <- meaning you kept the 800K baht in the bank for 3 months after your extension was granted and then you never let the balance go below 400k the rest of the year until you brought it back up to 800k 2 months before you apply for this upcoming extension

Yes, you can exit and re-enter with a Non-O from an Embassy or Consulate or re-enter and apply for a Non-O from Immigration which does not require seasoned funds

Thanks Tod

If for whatever reason , your balance went Below the minimum amount ( 400K ) for 2,3 or 4 months , during the months not close to your yearly extension , ( IE yearly extension is October & say

Feb , March , April & May )

What are the possible reprocussions , even if it was 400K + & 800K + at the correct periods ?

doesn't make a difference when it was, if you failed to follow the seasoning requirements you wouldn't get the extension issued,

AND

immigrations could make the case that your extension was void from the date you failed to meet the seasoning requirements.

The only way to solve that problem would be to exit the country get off this current extension and either apply for a new Non-O visa outside the country at a thai consulate or come back in free stamp and apply for the new Non-O visa inside the country at the immigration office

I know people whose balance fell below the required threshold by just a day or two get denied the extension ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

Moral of the story FOLLOW the seasoning requirements

The seasoning on banked money method for a year retirement extension is the funds need to be in the bank two months before you APPLY, not two months before your current stamp runs out.

Most offices allow you to apply when you have 30 days or less left on your current stamp so you can apply any time after monday May 4th as long as your funds are seasoned.

There is no reason to wait until your current stamp runs out because the year extension is added to your current expiration date
