Is it necessary for joint applicants of a DTV visa to have 1,000,000 baht in their account, or is 500,000 baht enough?

if husband and wife each get approved for a separate dtv visa, is 1,000,000 baht needed in their joint account? or is 500,000 baht sufficient?

can anyone clarify if dtv dependents need income verification, and are they also allowed to do soft power?

is there a certain monthly income requirement that's needed for proof, in addition to the mandatory 500,000 thai baht, for the spouse dependent? like in reference to the required bank statements - are they seeking a certain amount?

TLDR : Answer Summary
When both husband and wife apply for separate DTV visas, typically, a total of 1,000,000 baht is needed in their joint account. However, it's common that each spouse might only need to show 500,000 baht after one has received their visa. Additional income verification for dependents is generally not required, but proof of having at least 500,000 baht in a bank account may need to be demonstrated for a few months, depending on the consulate. The second spouse must apply from outside Thailand.

There's usually no added income proof. Although you may be asked to show PROOF of the bank account for up to 6 months with the balance of 500,000 Thb or more for 1 to 3 months, depending on the Thai Embassy or Consulate where you apply.

The second spouse makes application after the first spouse has the DTV Visa. And must be in a country outside of Thailand to apply, And stay outside of Thailand until the DTV visa decision is known.

The second spouse does not need to show PROOF of their being a digital nomad or enrolled in a Soft Power activity. They ONLY pay the 10,000 Thai baht fee with their DTV visa application.

is this if we both get separate dtv? can our income proof be the same 500,000 is what im getting at.

Normally a joint account needs double the money even if only one person is applying. Whether a spouse needs their own money varies by consulate

pardon me but, IF they are legally married, then one spouse who obtained the DTV Visa can sponsor the other spouse with the same bank account in the amount of 500,000 Thai baht or more. Surely they must read the DTV Visa Application requirements as appear on the Thai Embassy or Consulate website where they will be applying for the DTV Visa.

Read section 5c bottom left column on the DTV Visa graphic.

to answer. As I think I must be missing something else in your posted question. I'm wondering why you want to have both spouses Apply for the DTV visa using soft power activity when ONLY One needs to obtain it, then sponsor the other spouse and family members for the DTV visa.

@James *******
that way we each have our own visa.....

@Candace ********
as a spousal sponsored family member, you still will have your own DTV Visa once it's issued its good for 5 years.

@James *******
while each will indeed have their own visa I have seen a spouse issued a DTV as a dependent being denied an extension because the principal DTV holder had not done an extension (and thus had not proved the requirements for an extension)

@James *******
they're going to need 1 million baht anyway with a joint account

@John *********
yes... so they should be ok.

Thank You for your many helpful replies🤗

With a 1 Million Thai baht bank account, that should be accepted if it's a joint bank account. BUT likely best to be One account of 500,000 Thai baht in One applicant's name.
