TLDR : Answer Summary
The exchange of £20 notes featuring the late Queen is generally accepted in Thailand, as older notes are still considered legal tender. It is important for the notes to be in good condition, free from marks or tears, for successful exchange. While many commenters noted that old notes will continue to circulate alongside new ones, it is advisable to check with local exchange points about their policies and consider obtaining new notes before traveling if there are concerns.

Always get the newest notes in the best condition before coming

She's of legal age, but beyond tender.

Also, better to travel soon or you might have to get used to yet another new set of pictures...

The only problem is if the £20 notes have any markings on them or corners cut off or tears on them
Rob **********
They are both still legal tender, money changers will take them as long as they are in good condition.

I think we would all ne in trouble if they only accepted the very new notes with the kings head on!!! I haven't seen one yet in the UK? It's more likely the thai exchange booths won't have seen the new ones yet either 😄

I don’t understand. If “someone” is worried, why not just get new notes at a bank before coming?
Mike *******
Bloody hell. If your friend is worrying about that, I hope they don’t read the first page inside their passport! (“Her Britannic Majesty's Secretary of State requests and requires in the name of Her Majesty all those whom it may concern to allow the bearer to pass freely without let or hindrance and to afford the bearer such assistance and protection as may be necessary.”)

Think their talking about English pounds, old notes bearing the now dead queen's head versed new notes with 🤴 👑 charles bust

Just make sure the notes are in good clean condition, no writing on them etc

Don't overthink it.. its still legal tender.

It will be announced like every other time a note/coin that has been removed from circulation. They will slowly remove old notes until there is only so many in circulation and then announce that you have until X date to exchange/use the old note/coin.

Thailand still uses notes with both the old and new Thai Kings on so ours will be ok for quite a few years yet
