Good morning. I have a quick question for the experts in this group. Would it be frowned upon to apply for a Non O based on being over 50 and not apply for the 1 year extension at the end of the 90 days?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The question addresses whether it's appropriate for someone over 50 to apply for a Non-O visa without subsequently applying for the one-year extension after 90 days. A community member responded that while there is nothing inherently wrong with this approach, it may raise questions from the embassy or consulate if the individual intends to stay in Thailand long-term.

Nothing wrong in doing that, however if you were going to try and stay long term like that, the embassy or consulate that you use will start asking questions

should of added: does this sound feasible ?

, logically, yes. Just remember, your entry on tourist status is always at discretion of the immigration officer at passport control upon your entry.

Ellie Takei And if he asks Non imm. O incountry, he needs the 800k฿ in place I guess ?

, that depends on nationality. But if as a UK passport holder, right needs to have 800K baht in his Thai bank account.

thanks for your reply. I'm already in Thailand working and coming to the end of my contract. I'm just considering staying on 6 months + for some R&R. As it's expensive to travel back to UK just to get a METV, I'm thinking maybe a 90 day non O then fly out to a neighboring country to get a SETV, with a 30 day extension, this should give me 6 months and if I need more, I can go do a border bounces.
