The discussion revolves around the process of opening a bank account in Thailand through agents, with various opinions on the integrity and pricing of these services. Some users claim that agents charge excessively, ranging from 25,000 THB to as high as 30,000 THB, while others report much lower prices (5,000-15,000 THB). Many comments highlight skepticism and allegations of scams associated with agents, urging expats to consider alternative options like using services from their home banks or pursuing the account opening process independently. The dialogue reflects a mix of caution and frustration regarding the current banking environment for foreigners in Thailand.
Why the !? Would I pay money to a bank to store money with them so they can make more money with it?
Stupid, useless, scammy.
Just get a card without fx fees from your own country and don't deal with all the hassle.

The new bank rules is just another meaningless action taken under the pretence to stop scammers and money launderers from open bank accounts, but any scammer can just pay a agent to do it and then continue scamming because 25k is nothing compared to what they make from their scams or money laundering 😂
The only people affected by this is the honest people that just want a Thai bank account for legal use 😔
But with the new rules those agents can be tracked easily. You need an ID (Passport Thai ID card) to get a SIM. That SIM can only be tied to a single device. The account is tied to that device and Sim. ie there is a "Chain of Custody" so to speak. Not many agents would take that chance these days.
There will still be scammers taking advantage of naive or unscrupulous Thai's. The consequences are quite severe ie jail if you do not have the means to extricate yourself from it. They are currently making sure all details are up to date and soon accounts will be frozen from mobile banking if not in line with new rules. For example someone can not use their partners Sim obtained with their ID for their bank account - has to be in their name.

Hahahahha for 25k you help him to open his own bank account with you’re 25k warm inside. There is so much app for QR code today don’t need to give that amount of money at someone who’s taking advantage of our situation in Thailand.

Am just curious and am not sure --- with DTV, and since u have Thailand address , Why not just use wise Thailand and get debit card as well?
"Our team will guide you through the process " so you do the work and they direct you. It's a scam and you won't get a bank account just pay money for nothing. Do it yourself it's not that hard just collect all the required paperwork first then approach bkk bank

10,000–15,000 baht seems like a fair price to pay for opening a Thai bank account if you're planning to stay here for over 3 years. Anything more feels too much
I'm pretty sure if you visit 20 to 30 bank branches, you'll get a bank account sooner or later. With good planning and a motorbike, you can easily visit 20 branches a day
Things have changed. I opened on myself years ago on a visa exempt. Could not do that now. I can open one easy on a Non-Immigrant Visa now easy enough though
no but I am fine with it now. I used contactless payments for free instead or just cash when I cannot. I spend just a few euros of bank fees every month. Better than before. Thai bank you pay fees too.

TikTok services in Pattaya have been providing bank accounts with Bangkok bank for years on tourist visas. 5000 baht. In and out within the hour. I did mine long before I had the DTV
Outdated information. When you say you had success please give the year and month. I spoke to TikTok this year along with about 20 other agents in Pattaya. No success.
many said they could still do it in January 2025 including TikTok for the right price. However by February it became almost impossible. Around the time they rescued 7,000 from modern day slavery call centers they put more pressure on banks.
I've used this company before for a visa extension, they're very professional and have an office so I doubt this is a scam.

Agents are same as lawyers and make a lot of empty promises to get your money. Getting a text doesn’t mean anything. How about success stories instead?
I can get a bank account in Bkk on visa exempt for 15k, but if I buy the insurance for 6k I get the bank account for 7.5k, true an agent ofc but the point is nothing is never in Thailand 😁
