The discussion revolves around the use of agents to open Thai bank accounts, specifically highlighting concerns over the high fees of around 25,000 baht. Several comments express skepticism and label this service as a scam, while a few users defend the agents, claiming their assistance simplifies the process. The conversation touches on the difficulty of opening accounts for expats and raises questions about the legitimacy of the agents and the necessity of such high fees.
The new bank rules is just another meaningless action taken under the pretence to stop scammers and money launderers from open bank accounts, but any scammer can just pay a agent to do it and then continue scamming because 25k is nothing compared to what they make from their scams or money laundering 😂
The only people affected by this is the honest people that just want a Thai bank account for legal use 😔

Sounds like a scam

Hahahahha for 25k you help him to open his own bank account with you’re 25k warm inside. There is so much app for QR code today don’t need to give that amount of money at someone who’s taking advantage of our situation in Thailand.

You could find many agents cheaper than 25,000 THB in Bangkok.
"Our team will guide you through the process " so you do the work and they direct you. It's a scam and you won't get a bank account just pay money for nothing. Do it yourself it's not that hard just collect all the required paperwork first then approach bkk bank

10,000–15,000 baht seems like a fair price to pay for opening a Thai bank account if you're planning to stay here for over 3 years. Anything more feels too much

I'm pretty sure if you visit 20 to 30 bank branches, you'll get a bank account sooner or later. With good planning and a motorbike, you can easily visit 20 branches a day
Things have changed. I opened on myself years ago on a visa exempt. Could not do that now. I can open one easy on a Non-Immigrant Visa now easy enough though
no but I am fine with it now. I used contactless payments for free instead or just cash when I cannot. I spend just a few euros of bank fees every month. Better than before. Thai bank you pay fees too.

I used these guys before for different kind of visa’s and fasttrack they are legit.
I've used this company before for a visa extension, they're very professional and have an office so I doubt this is a scam.

Agents are same as lawyers and make a lot of empty promises to get your money. Getting a text doesn’t mean anything. How about success stories instead?
I can get a bank account in Bkk on visa exempt for 15k, but if I buy the insurance for 6k I get the bank account for 7.5k, true an agent ofc but the point is nothing is never in Thailand 😁
