At the gate of the thai embassy ignore the people that want to help you...just go inside you can easily do everything on your own...

Laos flight are expensive, if u have the $ it doesn't matter but if u don't mind it just fly to udon thani, then 1 hours bus to border, and another 1 hour to get to Vientiane. U'll save a lot of $.

You turn in your passport copies and application in the morning one day before 11:30 and you pick up your passport with the visa in it and pay the afternoon of the next day after 1:30
