How does the new Thailand TDAC app improve the immigration process for expats?

Thailand has launched an app where you can fill out your TDAC. This should make it easier to complete the TDAC than it is to navigate the website on your phone. I downloaded it myself but won't have need to use it for a few months, but I assume like the Cambodia app it will save your basic info (passport biodata page photo, DOB, etc) so all you need to do each time you come in is update your arrival info. Also, after reading the services section, it seems the app might be used to book appointments at immigration (which would be huge!), and provide status updates of any application(s) you may have in process.

I don't know why people are so enthusiastic about installing untested apps and not worried about security flaws when the website works just fine and can be universally accessed from any device with a browser. Whatever happened to cautiousness? Or is this a generational thing?

A. Nony Mous what does Amazon and apple have anything to do with the third party software vendor? You do know that the checks by things like the Google store is not very thorough and lots of malware and scrapers get released onto the store all the time and only taken down when a researcher finds something and alerts google?

A. Nony Mous there is a difference between a long running app from a reputable vendor versus a brand new app from an unknown vendor. Plus with the track record of the Thai immigration's system vendors, I wouldn't install a brand new recently released app. The point I'm making is there's no reason to install an app when you can access a website to do the exact same thing that has already been running for almost 2 years. What benefit does the app give that outweighs the security risk?

seems like it works fine, was able to input travel for 3 days from now to thailand and it gave me the QR code to show immigrations when I stamp in
and I input travel for a week from now and it took the data and said it would message me when to file the Arrival Card thru the app
