How can I provide an updated bank statement for my visa application when my French savings account shows no transactions?

Hi everyone, I am having issues about my bank statement with Hanoi embassy.

I want to use my "Livret A" saving account (french account) that exceeds the 500k thb required for more than a year. The issue is I did not make any transfer since end of april. So when my bank edit for me my bank statement, there is nothing to show after this date.

Even if my bank stated at the end of the document "We, *bank name*, certify the absence of transactions on savings account No. xxxxxxxx from 30 April 2025 to this day, 06 August 2025.", the thai embassy sent me the mail today required "Updated bank statement from May to present."

I am a bit lost, I do not know what to do, if someone can help me please.

I took a screenshot of my livret A web page, my bank also sent me the listing of all my account with the balance every end of month from end of february until end of july. I also plan to send an eglish+thai letter to explain everything about the different documents and I hope it will be enough.

I also asked my bank to stamp and sign the screenshot of my livret A web page if it can help too.

I really feel my application is legit, I have the money on my account for more than 2 years, it is just I cannot give the template of bank statement they want, because of my bank.

Thank you all for your help

Edit : This is what I sent to my bank, with a cover letter including this "At present, I hold 22,950 EUR in a Livret A savings account with Credit Agricole, which is equivalent to approximately 864,756 THB. The Livret A is a special government-supported savings account available in France, known for its safety, accessibility, offers tax-free interest, and high liquidity. I am able to withdraw and utilize these funds at any time for my daily expenses."

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is facing difficulties with the Thai embassy regarding the requirement for an updated bank statement for their visa application, as their French savings account has not had any transactions since April. The bank has certified the absence of transactions but the embassy insists on an updated statement. The user plans to send additional documents including a screenshot of their online banking, previous monthly statements, and a cover letter explaining their financial situation. They seek advice on how to resolve this issue.

Make a small deposit into the account, the new transaction will be recorded with a recent updated date.

I just had eye surgery this morning so it's very hard for me to see. I think if you just put a brief cover letter explaining what you've given why you've given it and the only way you can get anything super official is at the end of the month.

even if I do that, I will only be able to take my own screenshot of my web page, I wont be able to get official statement from the bank until next month...

yes could you deposit today and use the monthly statements you have and can you access something to show “transactions” for the latest month?

My most recent statement wasn’t available when I applied in Hanoi in June, so I used 5 months of statements and 1 month of transactions.

Make your documents super clear, highlight key dates / your name / balance and definitely get anything translated from French to English. Write a cover letter specifically for these extra docs, explain why there aren’t recent transactions and even explain each page one by one if you think it will help them understand. In the letter you can also explain the funds are readily available, add the URL of your bank and even add the URL page which says which account you hold, with the conditions of that account.

I would also provide 6 months of bank statements for the one you use for daily transactions even if you don’t have balance in there (I did this). And explain this is your main account but you don’t hold the balance there but are providing it to show transactions, and explain the other one is a savings account (and still readily available funds)

Good luck!

you should be able if you go to the branch or ask for it.

Not sure I understand. My savings account, which I don’t touch, they supply me a statement every month with the starting and then ending balance. Usually some interest accumulated. No transactions.

DTV_BegPecker for me they dont. They do only 1 time a year. And when I request, they can only supply statement that shows the last month where I made a transfer. I know this does not make any sense but my bank is unable to supply me a statement up to date, only the handwritting statement saying there is no transfer from late april until today, and that I still have the same balance (22 950e) on this account.

Now I think I understand the issue. They want separate monthly statements, but you cannot provide that because the bank won't create one unless there has been activity initiated by you during the month (interest payments don't count). Seems you either are going to have to do a better job explaining the account's peculiarities (ChatGPT may be your friend here) or spend the next couple of months making small transactions and then immediately requesting statements so you have one from each month.

why not transfer $10 then, to update it? Also, what specifically did the embassy state?

DTV_BegPecker I thought about it, and my bank said "ok you can do that but we will be able to show it on the statement only next month" this is so crazy...

sounds like you have your answer. You might not like the answer, but you have it.

I edited the post and send the photo of the document I sent to the embassy. For you, it's not enough ?

@Romain ****
I don’t think so, but let the embassy decide. It states “for the requested period”. While it was issued on August 6th, it states end date as April 30th. I know you state that it focused on transactions, but I would interpret this as being a request to the bank on Aug 6th to show transactions up to April 30th. The embassy usually wants things to be simple to understand.

The 500.000 Baht has to be in a readily available account, when you have access to the money immediately, for example if you get rushed to hospital and have to pay upfront, before treatment.

No all savings accounts allows that.

It is the amount (500.000 Baht) that is important, not if there are regular payments to the account

Read the website of the desired Thai Embassy, and search the group for that specific Embassy, there are loads of posts allready, that adresses that issue.

I edited my post and uploaded the document if you want to check, thank you :)

Remove “for daily expenses” at the end, since the deposit is rather for the unexpected expenses, such as hospital bills, policefines, overdue rent and other large sudden expenses.

the money on my saving accounts is immediately available. I could transfer all of it right now on my checking account if I wanted too. Is it not enough ?
