TLDR : Answer Summary
The requirement for a rental contract when applying for a Thai visa can pose a challenge if you're not currently in Thailand. While some users suggest that Airbnb might not meet legal rental standards due to minimum rental durations, others have found success using platforms like Agoda for short stays. Renting from serviced apartment companies is also recommended as they typically allow rentals without being present in the country and have better reputations, ensuring a smoother process.

You can get a lease without being in Thailand easily. You should be ok if you rent from serviced apartment companies and always read the reviews from other guests and how the host responds to bad reviews.

I’ll let someone else correct me if I’m wrong. I think airbnbs require 1 month rental minimum according to the government (Yes they rent for shorter periods but it may not be technically allowed). Probably safer to use a different platform if you plan to rent for less than one month for your initial stay.

I had a booking made through agoda for about 2 weeks, that was enough in my case.
