Good morning everyone. I would like to ask, although some of you might think this is not a topic to be discussed in this forum —if that’s the case, the administrators can decide whether to remove or allow the post— I’m looking for a professional to inspect cars. The reason is simple: I’m looking for a used car, so I need to be sure of what I’m buying. Thank you, and have a great day.

Yes, I’m proactive with myself, and I say… maybe you’ll tell me, “go to a car forum.” And yes, you’re right. However, what I’m really looking for is someone who can confirm that this person is trustworthy. You know, we’re foreigners, and sometimes when we talk to Thai people, we don’t really know their intentions and vice versa. So I’m here to ask you if you have or know of any source where I could start managing this project of mine. Thank you.

Note: The system would be for me to select some cars and go with him to see them and have them inspected. It wouldn’t have to be every day, but occasional days.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking recommendations for a reliable professional to inspect used cars before purchase in Thailand, specifically in the Phra Padaeng/Bangkok area. They express concern about trustworthiness when dealing with local sellers and mention their specific need for a functional vehicle to commute rather than a luxury model. The community responds with various suggestions, including specific mechanics and services, as well as general advice on buying used cars.

I have a monster type truck. We just bought a Toyota VIOS with only 100 kilometers on it for US $12,500 to run around in with warranty.

Well, I already said in my first comment that the area was for Phra Pradaeng and Bangkok.

What's your car buying budget? Personally I believe in buying top of the line models that are older, my logic is if they could afford it in the first place they were able to take care of it. Try and get a car with only one or two previous owners if it's used. Pick something bulletproof, easy, and cheap to replace parts like Toyota's. Modern cars are just plastic and electronics.

Yes, the cars I have in my sights are cars without electronics. Simple mechanics and spare parts everywhere in Thailand. My budget will be about 3,000 euros. Toyota / Isuzu / Mitsu.

I would totally recommend Pradeep from Carsmeup. Tell him what you are looking for and he will source it. All cars go through a very intensive inspection. Also he helped with tax and insurance.

I have seen how some Thai people treat their cars and there is always flood danger, I opted to buy brand new for the reasons stated, this way I know exactly what I’m getting.

i have already a new Brand car. The purpose of this purchase is to make short trips with my son from home to school. Morning trips to the school are chaotic. There’s a lot of traffic and a big mess. I don’t want to damage the car I’ve reserved for longer trips.
Terry ***********
@Jordee *****
Thai drivers are not the greatest, if you are driving in high volume traffic areas, something more disposable might the right way to go.

This is the idea. This is the concept of buying a cheap second-hand car.
Bob **********
A lot of cars in Thailand are not maintained well check that first but I would buy new unless you have time to search and then who knows

Exactly, that’s why I’m looking for a vehicle inspector.

I’m not going to spend a year on this project; I mean, I’m going to allocate about 5,000 to 6,000 baht and look at two or three cars. That’s it. I’m not… I’m not very demanding in this regard. I usually make decisions quickly.

But it must be inspected.
Bob **********
@Jordee *****
just take it to the dealership they’ll check

Let me make it clear, because I prefer to avoid irrelevant comments. The car is for going back and forth from my house to my son's school. I already have a car for long trips across the country. So, why would I have to spend a fortune? Yes, that’s for those who think I’m looking for junk. Well, for you it might be junk too. For me, it’s a functional car. That’s what I’m looking for.

But of course, otherwise the erection will no longer work if you can't splurge with a new car.
Julian *******
@Daniel *****
you couldn’t be more wrong. You can find very reliable inexpensive cars , prices have gone down too , so your statement is crap. Buy a new Mercedes or bmw or Audi and at 100,000 km you’re starting to spend big money on maintenance whilst your car is depreciating.
Nick *******
@Daniel *****
must be tiring being better than everyone else. How do you find the time for your trolling if you are so successful?

@Daniel *****
“Of course, smart people buy what they need, not what others say they should buy.”

“Perfect, then you’re successful and I’m functional. Each in their own way.”

“Great, thanks for the advice. I’m looking for a car that serves its purpose, not one that meets your expectations.”

I’m sure you wouldn’t say that to my face, you bold keyboard arrogant.

@Jordee *****
stand your ground his statement was uncalled for I'm glad he's rich and successful but other than that I really don't give a damn

I don’t care what he said; he’s an arrogant, sick person, but I was thinking that he wouldn’t dare say that in front of my children. Anyway, I don’t think he really understood what the concept of my position is. Although he doesn’t care either. He keeps following his line of arrogance wherever he goes.

go to your closest car mechanic shop and ask there. Maybe less than ฿1000
Peter ***********
A good mechanic is 1000 baht per hour. This "project" of yours is going to be costly. Alternatively you could find a dealer you trust. But i suspect your are bargain basement shopping hopong to find a gem that no one else spotted. It isnt going to end well.
Andy *******
@Peter **********
wow, you presume so much with such a negative attitude in regards to costs and time ... Does it somehow trigger you .. or do you think it's helpful to be so condescending??
