I need some advices concerning the Retirement O-A visa (1 year). I'm searching the web for 3 days and cannot find any answers. I live in Austin, TX. I want to apply for a Retirement O-A visa (1 year). Where I can apply online? any link? They said that when I got approved, I need to show up in person for the stamps & paper works. Where in person? Washington DC? Any place in Texas? It sounds that Houston does not do the Visa O-A anymore. Any advices will be welcome. Thanks in advance.

TLDR : Answer Summary
To apply for a Retirement O-A visa while in Austin, TX, you need to use the online eVisa system. Due to COVID-19, most Thai honorary consulates in the US are closed, and visas are now issued through four main Thai consulates: Chicago, New York, Los Angeles, and Washington DC. For Texans, the appropriate consulate for the O-A visa application is Washington DC. Begin your application at https://www.thaievisa.go.th and refer to the Washington DC consulate page for specific requirements: https://washingtondc.thaiembassy.org/en/page/non-oa. Ensure you review the user manual of the eVisa system for guidance.

Okay let's try to sort out what you're trying to do and see if we can't get you back on track

Since covid all the honorary consulates in the US closed and all visas are issued thru just 4 thai consulates (Chicago, New York, Los Angeles and Washington DC). They are ONLY issued online, <- meaning you don't go to a consulate.

You apply online at this website

IF you're in Texas it shows on the eVisa website that you apply online using the Washington DC consulate (so that's the choice you pick when you start the application process)

You need to go to this website (the thai consulate in Washington DC) and read the requirements posted on that page for the Non-Immigrant Type OA (Long-Stay) visa.

Then you can go to the eVisa website make a user/log in, and start the visa process

It's not a race, take your time, you can stop and go back to an application any time during the process

Read the User Manual of the eVisa system so you know what you're doing, etc.

Hi. This is great information! I'm in the process myself.

One thing...Im having difficulty with the website accepting my photos. I get an error message every time.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I'll be in CM middle of April.

just wait until any step that requires a payment, that will be a whole new experience (e.g. U.S. credit card bank not approving a Honk Kong bank transaction)

Thank you much. great info. I have one more question. After that I applied online, how long "in general" does it take to get the confirmation? weeks? months? (ballpark).

not to be disrespectful ๐Ÿ™

BUT it appears you did not go to the website I linked you to and read under the VISA tab how it works at that consulate ๐Ÿ˜•

while it says up to 15 days my visas (different type but it shouldn't matter) are typically issued in 3 or fewer days - but I always apply about 30 days prior to my anticipated flight date
