TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion revolves around changes in Thailand's enforcement of entry requirements for those traveling under the visa exemption rule. The original poster has traveled multiple times without being asked for an onward ticket, but recent comments indicate stricter enforcement, where travelers may now be questioned and required to show an onward travel ticket or proof of funds. Suggestions include purchasing flexible onward tickets or considering a Non-O visa based on marriage to avoid potential issues at immigration.

You are misleading us! That's the requirements to apply for a visa and actually this is not an official text, it is made up! Actually at the border when entering Thailand, you can be asked for proof of CASH 20,000 THB or equivalent in another major currency. Bank statements are not accepted. Credit cards are not accepted. ONLY cash is accepted at this point!

I arrived on April 30th on a 60 day exemption and extended by 30 days to July 28th. I then went to Vietnam for 5 days and when I returned to Thailand I was questioned at immigration. Luckily, a month previously already booked my flight to the UK. A second and more senior person was called to discuss my entry into Thailand and thankfully he allowed me to enter. I was definitely sweating 😓 for a while

that is my plan for my upcoming trip in october. 60 days , 30 day extension. The vietnam for 10 days then back to thailand for 60 days then fly back to US. I'm booking my outbound plane ticket before i return from vietnam. Ive never done a visa run before . I hope thai immigration lets me back in .

that should be no problem at all

. I don't really know for sure, but I have seen that you can pay an agent for a fast track if you don't want to take the risk of not being allowed entry and getting a refusal against your name

Buy a bus ticket online out of Thailand. Much cheaper than a plane ticket

not every airline will accept a bus ticket - because most busses don't cross the borders (left hand/right hand steering)

I am the same ,25 years .

But

I have seen people infront of me denied ,and my friend was asked last year .

Not worth the risk to me .

I buy a ticket that can be canceled .

It's not that the situation has changed but they have got stricter about enforcement. A visa exempt entry is for tourism and you are not a tourist, saying that only the immigration officer you will stand in front of can answer your question. If you are worried about it you can get a 90 day Non-O based on your marriage rather than trying visa exempt

There has been a lot of commentary on this regarding No of tourist exempt Visits to Thailand .

Probably recommend to buy a cheap onward ticket

There have been mentions now where you may be asked to show 20,000 baht in a bank account ? ( someone else may clarify this )

you CAN be asked for proof of funds from Immigration. If THAT happens, you need to show CASH. No bank statements, no credit cards. ONLY CASH will be accepted. 20,000 THB in cash or the equivalent in USD, GBP or Euro
