I interested in applying for the LTR under the category “highly skilled professional”.

One of the criteria is not clear and was hoping for some clarification. See below:

Business or higher education institution, research institution, specialized training institution, or Thai government agency in any targeted industries

Does owning your own business qualify based on the description above?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The post is about clarifying whether owning a business qualifies for the Long-Term Resident (LTR) visa under the highly skilled professional category in Thailand. The criteria mention that qualifications must come from recognized institutions or government agencies in targeted industries. Comments indicate that the business's scale, such as being publicly traded or generating significant revenue, plays a crucial role in qualification, but ownership alone may not suffice unless the individual is recognized as a skilled professional in their field.

It all depends on your personal qualifications. Just because you own a business does not mean you qualify. You have to be highly successful, and for a long time doing the specific work, and not skilled at hiring highly qualified people to work for you. Use a hospital as an example. The CEOs of most hospitals are not doctors, so are they qualified to perform surgery because he runs a successful hospital. You basically have to be recognized as a professional in the fields they are looking for. Just because you own a business does not automatically mean you are technically qualified in a particular field they are looking for.

If your business is publicly trade or does at least 150m (usd) a year in revenue.. Yes. Otherwise no. Funny exception that the business you work for has to be larger and well established.

You can go under wealthy status if you have at least 1m in net worth.

Personally, elite just more carefree options.
