Do you have to leave Thailand every 3 months on a DTV visa?

If so, can you do a land border run for just a few minutes?

TLDR : Answer Summary
Holders of a DTV visa are allowed to stay in Thailand for 180 days per entry. While it is indeed possible to extend this stay once for another 180 days, the process can be complex and may not always be favorably received by immigration officials. Many expats opt for 'border runs,' which involve leaving Thailand and re-entering to reset the visa duration, although this practice might not be as feasible or officially supported as it once was.

yes, each entry can be extended once for a further 180 days but it requires you supply all the information you did to obtain the visa originally but updated to the time of application. Most prefer just to do a border bounce.

Michael Villin in theory, yes. In practice they don’t like to do extensions in the country and at the end of the day it’s easier to border bounce after 179 days.
