22/6 further document submitted
30/6 pending approval + approved

9/7 Request for better photo (nothing else)
10/7 pending approval
13/7 approved
A few points to highlight in case it is relatable to anyone:
For HCMC
- the bank account we submitted at first only held 500k for 3-months but not 6 months. We have a fixed deposit (withdrawable with penalty) in another bank account that meet the min. for 6 months so we decided to include it for a chance. We did some explanation with a cover page in both Thai and English to make it easier to read across the accounts for the officer. It was accepted.
- Because the second bank account statements were not intended to be included at first, it was only available in Chinese and cannot be re-printed in English. We do a translated version with pdf editor (only the titles are translated without editing any figures).
- we almost wanted to give up HCMC because many of the documents requested are not immediately available. we ended up trying to find substitute proof that can meet the principle that the officer is looking into, with a summary cover page to explain and highlight the core message ( in both Thai and English whenever the context is complicated). this seem to work in case anyone else is facing the same situation.
- because HCMC has been quite a stressful process, we decided to pursue the dependent visa in Vietiane given limited time remaining of our visa in Vietnam.
For Vietiane
- marriage certificate was originally both English and Chinese (Hong Kong). no notarization/ legalization by embassy in our home country is required.
this group provided a lot of insights in helping us get through the process. Hope these info will help others too. Good luck.
