TLDR : Answer Summary
If you are arriving in Bangkok with a Single Entry Tourist Visa (SETV), there is a legal requirement to show 20,000 Baht at immigration. However, whether this is enforced can vary depending on the immigration officer's discretion and your travel history. Many travelers suggest it's best to carry the cash to avoid any uncertainties or potential issues with entry.

The law is that yes you do have to.But.. they dont ofter implement to law..

Just play it safe and bring the cash. Ignore all the "maybe" or "if you" comments. I'm on a retirement extension of stay so not a target but still brining the 20k baht when I return next month.

It's dependent on the number of entries you have on your passport and the mood of the Immigration Officer. I'd say better to be safe than sorry.

. 500,000 tourists enter Thailand every week and 3 or 4 reports last week of people asked to show funds.
