Has anyone been required to show 20.000 Baht in cash, or in their bank account arriving at Suvarnabhumi Airport immigration? Or onward or return flight tickets? Trying to gain a picture of why certain people are asked to show this and some are not! 🇹🇭🇹🇭🇹🇭

TLDR : Answer Summary
Travelers may be asked to show proof of 20,000 Baht in cash or equivalent, as well as onward flight tickets when entering Thailand at Suvarnabhumi Airport. This requirement appears to be applied at the discretion of immigration officers, often targeting those with a history of multiple entries or specific visa types like the Tourist Visa. Not everyone will be asked for this information, and having the required documents does not guarantee entry.

members, I just going to stop this.

Reports from every member on every entry with They asked or They did not ask has not much to do with visa advice.

It could be asked, be prepared. Good luck.

Jason ...One with a history of living in Bangkok Thailand may be expected to be asked WHY one stays so long. Its at the total discretion of the Thai Immigration Officer.

Best to be prepared. Good Luck.

What is your entry history in Thailand?

Onward travel is more often requested by the airline when checking in.

I’ve not. I’ve always very easily glided right through immigration with zero issues. Doesn’t mean it won’t happen next time so I’m just always prepared.

Mostly people with tourist visa ... in October they wanted to see the cash, I only have visa on arrival (30days)

immigration Officers can ask every person who like to enter Thailand:

- Proof of funds, 20.000 Thb or equivalent currency in CASH

- Proof of onward travel within the time you get stamped in for

- Proof of accommodation

Out of reports, most people who are asked do have a history of multiple entries and exits into Thailand using the VIsa Exempt Entry or Tourist Visa.

Yes people have been asked, it is totally at the discretion of immigration on who they ask...and it is a requirement you meet if asked.

Even meeting these requirements is no guarantee of being granted entry...some people have all the requirements and still get refused.

If you have any significant history of staying in Thailand your risk of being asked may be higher but they can and do ask randomly
