TLDR : Answer Summary
Those on a Digital Work Visa (DTV) in Thailand may need to provide proof of continued employment with their remote company when extending the visa. If someone is laid off after obtaining the DTV, it could impact their visa status; however, border runs may be a temporary solution for maintaining visa validity.

I switched jobs once between the 180 days and just did a border run to be sure

If you're planning to extend your DTV in Thailand, you'll need a proof of employment. If you're crossing the border, it is apparently okay for now...
