Do I need to declare my mother's sponsorship for my Thailand visa as a student from Bangladesh?

Hi everyone!

I’m living in New Zealand, hoping to visit Thailand during Jan next year. I have a small query.

So, I’m a student right now, supported/sponsored by my mother. But I do have enough funds available in my bank account, more than how much usually should be there to acquire a visa. So for the bank documents, do I have to mention my mother as the sponsor for this trip and declare her bank documents and source of fund or do I just present my bank documents like statement of last 6 months? Btw, country of passport is Bangladesh.

I’d highly value your suggestions and advice. Happy weekend, everyone!🫶🏽
Answer summary
A user in New Zealand is seeking advice on whether to declare their mother's sponsorship and provide her bank documents for a Thailand visa, considering they have sufficient funds in their own account. Community responses indicate that as a Bangladeshi citizen, they need a single entry 60-day tourist visa, which requires personal bank statements showing a minimum balance. It's suggested that if they have their own funds, mentioning their mother is not necessary.

Patong Jeff He is from Bangladesh but studying in New Zealand. Bangladesh is not on the list for 30-day visa exemption so he had to apply for a tourist visa.

If you're going as a tourist then it's visa exempt for 30 days.....the amount of money you take is your business

Just be warned you're in an unfortunate situation as you're going to be required to apply from the most expensive Thai embassy in the world. Even for a simple tourist visa, the Thai embassy in NZ charges at least 3x more than any other Thai embassy.

well, as a Bangladeshi citizen you need to apply for a single entry 60-days tourist visa. For this application you only need to upload three months of account statements showing a minimum balance of 20,000 THB equivalent in NZ Dollars. The account must be in your name. If it is not in your name, you need a sponsor letter from your mother accompanied by three months account statements of your mother over the same amount

You don't say how long you intend to stay..... 🤔 Bank statements as such only needed for extended stays or multiple entries

If your old enough and have your own funds there's no need to mention your mother

OP
Thanks for your advice, John! I believe I have sufficient funds for my trip and university enrolment documents. However, the confusion comes as most countries require source of funds. I’d prefer not mentioning any sponsor, unless necessary in my case haha.
