Update: I went this morning to Chaeng Watthana and it is quite far from sukhumvit. I didn’t have an appointment and the wait was about 30 mins to speak to an officer. Another 15 mins or so to get my passport back. They didn’t ask for a TM30 either.
They were advertising e-extension for TR visa EVERYWHERE. On their website you can submit the required docs and schedule your appointment beforehand and pay the extension fee (+additional service charge since it’s 3rd party). I imagine this is useful for people who just want to come in and get out asap. Overall about an hour of my time.
Do I need to book an appointment for an extension on a TR visa or can I walk in?
Which office is best for this? I normally go to Chamchuri Square for previous visa things. Is there a better location?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user provided an update on their experience at the Chaeng Watthana office regarding the TR visa extension process, highlighting the efficiency of their visit and the availability of e-extension services. They inquired whether an appointment is necessary for a TR visa extension and sought recommendations for the best office location. A comment clarified that for a tourist visa, proceeding to Chaeng Watthana is essential, and appointments can expedite the process but are not mandatory.
If you have a tourist visa that you applied for and paid for before traveling and received 60 days on entry to Thailand, you MUST go to the office at Chaeng Watthana if you're in Bangkok.
If you entered without a visa and received 30 days on entry to Thailand, then you MUST go to the office at IT Square Laksi.
An appointment will certainly speed things along but not required.
we received our tourist Visa before we arrived but will be in Phuket before it expires. Can we go to any of the offices there for the 30 day extension? Thanks
