TLDR : Answer Summary
Yes, you can obtain a 6-month visa to Thailand from Canada. You have the option to apply for a 6-month multi-entry Tourist visa using the online E-visa system. Visit the Thai Embassy or Consulate website in Canada to check specific requirements. The DTV (Digital Tourist Visa) also allows for a 6-month stay per entry.
Go to the Thai Embassy in Canada website, and read the visa section, then when you know your options you can decide how long time to stay in Thailand, according to the requirements you can and will fullfill.

you can apply for a 6-month multi entry Tourist visa in Canada, using the E-visa online System. Just open the website of the consulate Vancouver or of the embassy in Ottawa, and check out the requirements . It shouldn' be overly difficult
right though each entry is limited to 60 days so one has to leave by the 60th day and re-enter to reset the clock (or extend at immigration for another 30 days).
not "after 60 days" but well BEFORE the 60-days stay permit expires, you can either extend with 30 days on Immigration for 1900.- THB, or exit Thailand and get stamped in another 60 days upon re-entering Thailand. If you exit and re-enter just before the expiry of the visa validity, you get almost 8 months out of this visa. With another 30-days extension, this would result in an almost 9 months stay
The Destination Thailand Visa (DTV) is a five-year, multiple-entry visa allowing digital nomads and remote workers to stay in Thailand. It permits up to 360 days of stay per year, requires a minimum bank balance of 500,000 THB, and allows remote work for international clients. Family members can also join the primary visa holder. Local employment requires a separate work permit.
is not very clear with the remark that local employment needs a separate work permit. It can be interpreted that you can have local employment as long as you get a work-permit. The combination DTV and work permit is impossible and that is what
