I'd like to confirm with members here if it's true that you can just leave and come back and have a fresh 180 days? I'm a bit unsure as I thought that within a given year, if number of days accumulated reaches 180, whether it was one visit or a series of visits, you would need to ask for an extension. Is it really true that you get a fresh 180 days every time you come back in?
Answer summary
The discussion confirms that travelers can indeed leave and re-enter Thailand to receive a fresh 180-day stay on their visa, specifically on the DTV visa. Comments suggest that as long as you fulfill the terms of your visa and ensure you have enough passport pages for stamps, you can accumulate multiple 180-day stays within a year. However, it is also cautioned that staying more than 180 days in a calendar year may invoke tax residency rules. Users emphasize the importance of complying with immigration laws and maintaining a low-risk status when re-entering Thailand.

Yes. The only thing you'd need to keep an eye on is making sure you have enough pages left in your passport for all the stamps! Enjoy

Here to confirm that others are correct, fresh 180 days stamp every time you reenter. But adding that maybe you're thinking of tax laws? Technically, if you spend 180+ calendar days out of the year then you're supposed to pay Thai taxes.

On this forum there are a lot of people who obviously do not understand how countries operate when it comes to immigration or understand immigration law itself. This applies in almost all countries. When on a visa, including the DTV, there often isn't a right that can be enforced in a court of law. Usually immigration law says an immigration officer can cancel a visa or simply refuse entry, this includes the DTV. So you need to ensure that you are acting in accordance with the intention of the visa, namely being a digital nomad. If you stay more than 183 days in a year, there is also a tax residency question, which you must consider. I believe immigration officers are considering whether you clearly meet the financial requirements, generally about 1,000 USD cash equivalent on hand, the 500,000 baht in savings and no risk you are working illegally. I think the stories on here of people being refused entry are when they think they have a right when in fact they need to ensure they can show the immigration officer at arrival they are low risk.

The DTV visa is a 5 year multiple entry visa and EVERY time you enter Thailand, you are STAMPED in for 180 days.
