Hi! Can we apply non-OA every year from home country instead of extending in Thailand?? Many thanks
Answer summary
The discussion revolves around the possibility of applying for a Non-OA visa from your home country annually rather than extending the visa from within Thailand. Some comments suggest that while it may be done effectively by returning home every 18 to 24 months for reissuance, individual embassies might have specific rules regarding the issuance frequency of Non-OA visas. Users have shared experiences indicating that new entries can be made when a current visa is valid, as long as health insurance requirements are met.

Maybe better to check the RTE/RTCG you want to apply through for their issuing policy of the limit on times of issuing. I remember some embassy, such as Paris, have their own rule like they issue Non-OA for once only (at least before). If they don't have such kind of limit, do as Tod says.
LoyalFrog3549, you don't actually extend anything.
You just make a new entry into Thailand on your (still valid) multiple entry visa.
So if you enter on the last day your visa (not your stay permit) is valid, you will be stamped in for a full year β provided your health insurance is valid that long.
LoyalFrog3549 do it as close to when your current entry stamp expires (which is the date your current insurance expires too) so that you get as long a time as you can out of it
Do it every 18-24 months. I did it that way for a few years. The amount you pay for a basic insurance will most likely be a lot less than the interest you'd lose by moving 800k into a Thai bank account
Seeing as you can get almost 2 years of stay out of a year long OA visa many people just go back to their country every other year and get a new OA issued.
I know quite a few people that do that without any issue at all :)
