My parents are intending to move here from Penang. Can they enter on the new STV and apply for a non imm o whilst here with the intention to extend for 12 months based on retirement? They understand that quarantine is required on arrival. Is the above the best option or can they get the non imm o in penang, or are the other ways?
Thanks
Michael

TLDR : Answer Summary
Michael is seeking advice on whether his parents can enter Thailand on the new Special Tourist Visa (STV) and then apply for a Non-O visa for retirement while in the country. Commenters suggest that the STV cannot be converted to another visa type, recommending instead a tourist visa to enter Thailand. This would provide time to arrange for a Non-O visa application based on retirement from within Thailand.
