TLDR : Answer Summary
The DTV (Digital Nomad Visa) allows holders a maximum of five years to enter Thailand after it is granted, meaning one can delay entry for up to nearly five years without issue.
Related question for people who have been issued the DTV: was it valid from the date of approval for 5 years or was there a start date later (perhaps related to the flight info you told them in the application)?
correct. Btw how do the visas work, when you enter you get the days visa gives you, or only until it expires? Say, coming here 1day before the dtv expires
In theory, the days the visa gives you, so you enter one day before your visa expires you are stamped in with 180 days. In that unlikely case though, IO would question why wait 5 years and there is a chance of being refused 180 days
was asking for myself, im gonna be here whole time and if given the opportunity, take the 6months extra, after that only 1year so i can get retirement visa 😝 so maybe ED for that lol
it could work either way. Elite used work this way, and you could get an extra year by stamping in right at the end, but they changed it a few years ago and if you re-enter in the last year they now only stamp up to the end of the visa.
The legislation introducing DTV isn't clear on what happens with entries but it does explicitly say extensions cannot go past the validity of the visa.
If I were to guess, I suspect they will only stamp up the end date of the visa. But as Adam says we'll have to wait and see what happens.
no one really knows since the DTV has been out for less than 5 years, but based on the METV, you'll get stamped in for the full duration even if you enter the day before expiry.
