To anyone holding a Thai Elite Visa

I am presently in Canada, returned last month from Thailand. I am married to a Thai National. I went today to the Thai consulate in Vancouver to ask some questions about the COE . I was advised I can not use the Elite Visa to return as it is not part of the authorized groups at present. I would have to apply for a visa being married to a Thai citizen., however this would void my Elite Visa. Frustrating to say the least. Only possible upside , is we do not plan to return till late September , early October so hopefully there will be further relaxation of restrictions. I have sent an email to the Thai Elite visa group outlining my concern.

TLDR : Answer Summary
A holder of a Thai Elite Visa in Canada is unable to use the Elite Visa for re-entry into Thailand due to current restrictions, as advised by the Thai consulate. They are required to apply for a visa based on their marriage to a Thai national, but doing so would void the Elite Visa. Comments from others suggest that the information from the consulate may be incorrect, and there might still be a way to utilize the Elite Visa for entry.

If you go onto other visa types it does not block you from using your right to enter on the elite visa at a later point, its the actual membership (with card) that gives that right.

sure. This is one of the best advantages of Elite visa. You can get work visa if you like to work, and Elite still be valid as long as it not expired. If you don’t need to work anymore, then just switch back to Elite. Staff at Elite office explained this to me some time ago, the Elite program is not mixed with other Visa types.

correct (y) I know people who have elite visas but then got jobs here and got Non-B visas/work permits and when they ended their job they went right back on their still valid elite visa

I think they told you bad information. You should be able to apply for Permission to enter (by following the steps EVERYONE has to follow now to ask to get in to the country) based on marriage to a thai BUT you would use your elite visa as the means to get in.

So few people actually hold an elite visa that I believe you're getting bad information from the consulate you're talking to. Contact the Elite staff and see what they say. I wouldn't take anything from a thai consulate office as gospel or cut in stone.
