TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion revolves around the Thailand Pass, which has replaced the Certificate of Entry (COE) for travelers entering Thailand. A user shared their experience upon arrival in Samui where they were asked for a Thailand Pass, which they were unfamiliar with. Other commenters clarified the importance of the Thailand Pass, explaining it is necessary for entry under programs like Test and Go and the Sandbox. Bill Trabert why not just pay the 60 to 80 baht for the kit to test yourself and be thankful they are doing this rather than shutting everything down
Bill Trabert they are making sure bar staff and massage staff aren't sick so trying to keep people safe, strange reason to want to leave.

now this whole thing has got me wondering. so apparently ko tao is open for sandbox. what that means is you fly into samui and go to ferry and then ko tao. ? that means a person has the opportunity to infect a bunch of people enroute to ko tao on the boat????????????
The 3-island Samui/Phangan/Tao Sandbox requires that the guest book the first night after arrival at a SHA Extra Plus hotel in Samui where they must stay in their room until they get their negative covid test result, before they can continue onward to SHA+ hotels on the other islands.
so if they can move to another island on day two via ferry .......... its a variation of the sandbox .............so i would assume authorities will be checking everybody going and coming on the ferrys now..........

Not being rude, but you really didn't know what a Thailand Pass is? Or you just told them that? It's surprising for any member of any of the Thai visa or travel groups to be unaware of a Thailand Pass as it replaced the COE many months ago as the equivalent requirement document to enter Thailand, and is mentioned in nearly every post in every group for the past few months.
He said he entered by Test & Go so I assumed he must have had a Thailand Pass. Test & Go launched at the same time as Thailand Pass, on 1 November 2021. It seems he would have had to have a Thailand Pass to enter by Test & Go.
I'm the same... Now that I'm in the country in not following the entry updates anymore... People keep asking me about the Phuket sandbox and all I know is it's 7 days and need to fly direct into Phuket... Everything else in clueless as I don't care lol
im just going to a tattoo shop and get all my info tattoed on my arm

Yes, that's because you're supposed to show a QR code when you enter Samui (Thailand Pass, Samui Health Pass or Mor Prom for Thais). I entered Thailand last October with the Phuket sandbox, I had none of these QR codes. I told them that and they let me go without asking to see my sandbox release paper nor my COE 🤷🏻♀️
