TLDR : Answer Summary
When applying for a second one-year extension of a spouse visa in Thailand, the applicant is considering switching to the monthly income verification method. It's important to verify with the local immigration office if they will accept monthly income from international transfers, as many do not accept this method for marriage extensions. Generally, they require proof of a consistent income of 40,000 baht every month for the past twelve months. If the immigration office allows it, they need to see that each monthly transfer was successfully deposited into the applicant's Thai bank account. Additionally, the applicant wants to know if using Wise for these transfers is acceptable, with comments suggesting that it's best to check the specific guidelines at the local immigration office.
40k baht every mth for 12mths if your immigration office accepts that besides the 400k method .....Wise payments to thai acct stating overseas transfer (use for long term stay) in the Wise app for reason of sending funds
you have to mark it as funds for long term stay in Wise when you send the money but it isn't guaranteed to work. If it isn't marked correctly in your bank book or statement then you can't use it anyway unless you get a foreign funds transfer certificate. There's a FAQ on Wise regarding this. The only way to guarantee an international transfer is to use swift
The very first thing you need to do is go to your immigration office and ask them if they will accept monthly transfers.
Many immigration officers will not accept this for marriage extensions. The only income they will accept for marriage extensions is proof of your wage from a work permitted job in Thailand being over 40,000 baht per month.
If your immigration does accept proof of monthly transfers, then when you apply for your extension you must be able to show that you received at least 40,000 baht as an international transfer into your bank account (in your name only) every single month for the previous 12 months. If you miss a month by even a day, you will not receive your extension.
Brandon Thurkettle: Most offices require that the funds come from abroad. If you use the Wise app, scroll to the bottom option for 'Reasons for transfer' and select 'Funds Most offices require that the funds come from abroad, so if you use the Wise app, then scroll to the bottom option for 'Reasons for transfer', which is 'funds for long-term living in Thailand'. This will then appear as an international transfer, but please note that it may take a couple of days or more to be reflected in your bank account.
No, most offices will not accept any funds at all unless it's your salary from a Thai job. But in my reply I clearly state that if they accept transfers, it must be shown as an international transfer.
