Can I take the 150 baht bus from Phuket Airport to Patong, or are there restrictions due to COVID?

Hi everyone, quick question.

From the Phuket Airport to my hotel in Patong, is it possible to take the 150 baht bus? I can't keep track of all the COVID restrictions. Is the bus still an option? If not, what's the best option? I'm travelling solo.

Thanks!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The 150 baht bus is not an option for travelers arriving internationally under the sandbox model due to COVID-19 restrictions. Instead, passengers are required to use SHA+ certified transportation to reach their hotels. It is advised to confirm with your hotel for arrangements regarding transportation.

Don’t be a cheap Charlie. It’s only $24 usd. Thousands of people have lost their jobs. With no tourists taxis lost a lot of money. Enjoy your trip.

If you're worrying about paying 800 baht for a taxi !!!!

Fcuk knows what you'll do if you test positive and have to pay a lot more to go into quarantine.

No. If you’re arriving internationally under the sandbox model you need to take an SHA+ transportation option directly to your hotel. If you contact your hotel they should be able to arrange it.

Thanks Dan, do you think I can show up at the airport and find someone who is going by pre-booked mini van or taxi and find an extra space and pay to join their transportation? I'm a solo traveller and I'll need to pay 800 baht for a taxi otherwise....

I’m guessing the people in other pre-booked transportation wouldn’t want a stranger joining them anyway because if (and I hope this doesn’t happen) you end up testing positive then they will have to isolate as well because they were a close contact with you.

officially, no. The idea is that you’re not supposed to be mixing with other people because you’ll still be waiting on your results from the test that you take at the airport. That’s why the transportation needs to be SHA+ as well, since that means the driver is vaccinated and meets other conditions.

Thanks Michael, since I'm a solo traveller, can I just show up at the airport and join someone's pre-arranged taxi if there's an extra seat and chip in for the taxi instead of booking my own taxi for myself?

i looked at options when i came into phuket with sandbox and booking through the hotel was the easiest. You can find sha plus drivers and vehicles (the vehicles are all seperated compartments)

I could have saved 200 baht but if something wrong with driver or vehicle could have been stuck at airport. With hotel you got piece of mind there will be a driver to pick you up
