I'm an Offshore Worker on a 28/28 day rotation I have previously travelled in and out if Thailand every 28 days on visa exemption and never had an issue but that was over 10yrs ago. Currently I travel to Thailand 3 or 4 times a year again on visa exempt and still never had an issue but I am reading more and more where multiple entrants are getting questioned and sometimes turned around, I do see that a lot of these are usually staying for the 60 days and applying for the extra 30.

My question is are there still rig pigs travelling in and out every 28 days on visa exemptions and not having any problems as Im considering doing that again so it would be 6 or 7 entries a yr.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquires about the viability of traveling to Thailand on a visa exemption as an offshore worker on a 28/28 rotation, citing concerns due to increasing scrutiny on multiple entries. The comments reveal mixed experiences, with some users advising that frequent entries might lead to questioning and even denial, while others share successful cases of entry using proper documentation. Suggestions point towards obtaining a multi-entry visa or ensuring clear proof of travel and work contracts to ease immigration checks.

Aye,I have been working Offshore on a 35x 35 rotation and have done for the past 12 years 80 % of that time with just an entry stamp,I have only been questioned by the Immigration twice in that time,I just show them my seaman’s book plus a travel letter by my company, they seem to be okay with that..I know its not easy to apply for any visa as you need your passport to travel back to work. You can use an agency to arrange it for you they do it on about 3 to 4 weeks even faster if you pay extra..Thai visa Centre in BKK did it for me before.

I was travelling in and out every leave, working

in the north sea , for around 3 years using visa exempt. One of my trips in an IO commented on the amount of visa exempt entries I had made in recent years and suggested I should look at types of visas that more clearly fit my reason for travelling to Thailand but he stamped my passport as visa exempt and let me in. The next trip a different IO stopped me and asked for the address where is was staying and for proof of an exit flight from Thailand. I was able to provide this information and they stamped me in as visa exempt. My next visit to Thailand a different IO asked for the address I was staying at, proof of a return flight and to see my 20,000 baht in cash, I was able to provide everything he needed to see and was stamped in as visa exempt. After this I entered 1 more time as visa exempt using a safe entry though the group owners and after that applied for my Non O. I guess what I'm trying to say is you will be fine until your not, but from my experience once I was flagged I was checked more each entry and I assume eventually, sometime soon, I would've been refused entry under the visa exemption rule.

Best person to ask is Michael Dawson on here he flys in and out for work

Im in a similar situation.

Ensure your company issue you a return flight to work each time before you arrive here.

If you ever get questioned at immigration explain you work a 4 weeks on and 4 off rotation in X country. You can have your work contract available with you incase you do get questioned in depth.

You also qualify for a DTV as you are a contractor.

Some have said get a 2nd passport but that wont make any difference at all. I have 2 passports and if I leave a country on one of them and arrive on the other I get asked "do i have another passport?" and then I have to show the passport I left the country on.

Well best bet for you, is apply a non-o based on retirement (being over 50) before you go, then before you travel home buy a single reentry permit 1000 baht can do to immigration or the airport so when you come back this visa is still valid then when you come back Thailand start instantly process of 1 year extension and buy multi reentry permit 3800 baht

Likely they'll give you a warning to get a visa next time before they turn you around unless your sketchy

You’ll be fine.

Get the proper multi-entry visa, it's not expensive. I think you can only get it in London now. As far as I know Glasgow and Hull don't do it any more. Other option is to get a letter from your company saying you need a second passport. Alternate passports between trips. I'm assuming you're British.

@Adam *****
All Visa applications are now eVisa and getting a second passport will be a red flag to Immigration as both will be on his computer screen unless you get a second set of fingerprints too ;)

My neighbor works off shore and has been coming and going every month for at least 20 years the length of time you spend in Thailand has a lot to do with being denied,60+30 and bouncing the IO’s don’t like it

No there’s issues with 28days now as your not on the right visa , a friend of mine has just been questioned had to have his company purchase a return flight and told you will be rejected next time if not on the correct visa ,,, he’s been here for many years and married with a child and is now getting a marriage visa ,,,, there’s a big clampdown right now , what you need to understand is you live here and work on a rig so get the right visa .
