Hi guys,

I have a WP and extension of stay until 4 Jan 2021. I may need to return to the UK for a couple of months in the next week for personal reasons but my WP etc will all still be valid and not to be cancelled.

If I get a re entry permit am I likely to have any issues returning if it is 2-3 months out of the country?

Thanks

TLDR : Answer Summary
Yes, you can return to Thailand after being out of the country for 2-3 months if you obtain a re-entry permit. Your current visa and extension of stay will still be valid.

No problem for you getting back Thailand within your current stamp period with re-entry permit. No matter how long you are out of Thailand.
