Can I rent a flight ticket for my Thailand tourist visa application in Laos?

Hello

When applying for a tourist visa for Thailand in Laos, they ask proof of when you're going to leave Thailand after 60 days.

I book a flight out of Thailand and end up not using it.

I heard you can "rent" a flight ticket to save money.

Any info about that?

Is it safe?

TIA

TLDR : Answer Summary
When applying for a tourist visa for Thailand from Laos, proof of departure is required. Many users suggest renting a flight ticket as a solution, with options for 'onward travel tickets' available for around $10-12. While most users confirm that it's a safe practice, there are differing opinions on the legality and ethics of renting tickets rather than booking actual flights. Some advise using reputable websites for reservations, while others express caution about potential repercussions with airlines or immigration authorities.

Just buy a refundable one way ticket to Dubai. I always get a refund. They are not expensive from Bkk-Dxb.

It’s a real ticket and you get your money back within a week usually.

Dumb & stupid is a bit of an insult. I have an opinion just as you do. There no need for your kind of reaction.

why would you buy a real ticket for factors more money for some nonsensical requirement? A rented ticket is perfectly legal. And you're already wasting money because you get nothing back for it. Don't understand why you'd want to waste even more.

buying a ticket you don’t plan on using is against the airline rules of purchase and also fraud against immigration.

Now that escalated quickly 😅

If buying an airline ticket you don't plan on using is against the airline policy, then renting a ticket is the way to go. These third-party companies provide legit services and pay for the rental to the airlines. I'm doubtful however whether your statement is true at all. I am fully against wasting money on real tickets, but I'll not believe that it isn't legit from the airline's perspective.

Is it fraud against immigrations? No, that is absolutely FALSE. You are required to have a reservation, which you do. Fraud would be if you Photoshop a ticket. A real ticket that you do not plan on using certainly isn't fraud - then everyone would be obligated to use the tickets they originally booked and cannot exit the country otherwise. Then extending your stay wouldn't be a thing (because you're obliged to exit as you originally booked). It's not true.

you have no idea what you’re talking about with regards to the conditions of purchase on airline tickets or immigration.

With regards to immigration or a Thai Consulate it’s pure fraud renting a ticket with no intention of it being used. It’s pretty simple. Should not be that hard to understand even for you

nothing you said it correct sir. You have no clue at all about these things.

Please don't say that about other people, who DO know what they talk about. That confuses the readers.

looking at your own visa situation should you really be giving advice?

Everything I said is 100% correct. Unlikely to get caught but it’s fraud and also unethical.

I'm repeating. It's NOT fraud to rent a ticket to show immigrations upon entry. Having the ticket at the point of entry is required, using it is not. If you claim it is, you are simply wrong. By the same reasoning it is also NOT fraud to have a cheap ticket to a neighboring country that you plan to just ignore. If you say it is, you are false.

If you say it's unethical, I don't understand on which basis it would be. Thailand requires visitors to leave on time, and what 'on time' is, is open for change. That should be enough. It is also not forbidden, *** knows how on earth you think otherwise, to book a suitable exit ticket within that allowed date while you're here. So the only unethical thing here, if any, is to require visitors to have exit travel arranged within a fixed date x when they enter. It makes no sense at all. But what DOES make sense is it is (luckily) not even worse. You ARE allowed to deviate from the plans after you entered.

Your claims are absolute bogus, without exception. It's all nonsense. But as you seem convinced, I invite you to post a source.

John Wilson I've been screwed by others. Had I been given control, I'd not have failed. You could blame me for not pursuing taking control. I'm also blaming myself for that.

It's nice to know more than others, unless you trust that they know more than you 😅

Very safe. You'll get an actual reservation, so in case they check with the applicable airline whether the reservation you made actually exists, it does. Google "onward ticket". Although the odds are that by now your Facebook timeline is full of ads from them already.

Thank you!

I'm looking for reviews of the websites I found and reviews are "so so", is there any website you can recommend? Thank you!

I never used it.

By the way, it may not be all that useful to ask reviews on this page of you can already see many of them. If I would have a good experience with some party, is that good enough for you if many others have not? I think you already have what you need: a thorough overview of people's overall experiences. If not so good, use another.

Do you have a ticket for flying in if so just “adjust “ it in a word document, done this myself many times.

that could work, but they *could* check whether your reservation actually exists. Then the fake ticket will fail the test, whereas the onward ticket passes it. And at an Embassy you deal with officials, so I wouldn't advice using this trick there.

It may be good for airlines though, if you plan to fly and use exemption, and anticipate that immigrations may not check.

That may work, but if they check on their systems it won’t show. An onward ticket does as it has a valid PNR. It’s just it won’t ever be issued nor used.
