I went to vimut-theptarin hospital in Bangkok to get my diabetes managed by endocrinologist. They are listed as well know hospital for endocrinology matter so you can check either them.

thank you. I will call them. I want to stay in Surin Province. There are hospitals there but I want to stick with a hospital that’s familiar with the DTV process.

After I get the visa, I can change to the rural area. Can you tell me the cost for initial consultation/labs, etc., and how long they showed appointments on your letter?

I wouldn’t say the hospital is experience in DTV however if you know what to ask at whichever hospital it will be helpful. The most important thing you need from the doctor is

1) letter addressing to embassy the health issue you are seeking for and how long the treatment plan will be

2) doctor license & hospital license

3) next appointment date

4) any medical report you have done at the hospital that relate to your health issue

I did have a letter from doctor at that hospital stating what health issue I have ( all long time chronic illness), blood test and ultrasound report that I submitted. However the doctor was not comfortable giving me a letter that addressed directly to the embassy (this is when the embassy emailed me back for more documents) and inform them how long my period because the doctor only seen me once and need further assessment. He could only give me an OPD document. So what I did was write on the cover letter explaining to the embassy that all my health issues are chronic and long term and doctor need further assessment. Thankfully I got approved.

My suggestion if you decide is you go to whichever hospital have enough time for the doctor to assess you so that he can write you that letter with treatment plan and period. Diabetes is usually long term care and treatment too.

Are you asking if diabetes can be used as excuse to get a 5 year DTV to live and work in Thailand?

OR did you entered Thailand using a DTV and ask if it is allowed to visit a hospital as you have diabetes, in that case: Yes, you can visit hospitals, there is no special visa needed to do that.

I’m not working but will need care while I stay with my gf 2-3 years in Thailand before going out.

Not sure about your age, but Non Immigrant O-A visa gives you almost 2 years of stay. Then you can decide to apply in Thailand year after year for another 1 year of stay
