Hello group. I just got my second year extension on a NonO retirement visa originated here in Thailand. My question is it possible to go back to the US and qualify for this same visa showing a pension award letter and 12 months deposits to my US bank from my pension system exceeding $65,000 baht equivalent at the Thai embassy/consulate in LA? Anybody done it? How long did it take?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The original poster has received a second year extension on their Non-O retirement visa in Thailand and inquires about the possibility of reapplying for the same visa from the US using a pension award letter and bank statements showing monthly deposits exceeding 65,000 baht. The responses clarify that while initial visa applications can sometimes utilize U.S. bank funds, extensions must involve Thai bank accounts for financial proof. Additionally, the U.S. Embassy no longer issues financial statements, and applicants in the U.S. may need to meet different requirements than those currently residing in Thailand.

I'm not sure what you are trying to accomplish as you say you've just obtained an extension inside Thailand?

The only way you can use funds in a US bank is to apply for a visa in the US. The 90 day Non-O only gives you 90 days so the alternative is the 12 month Non-OA visa which you can only apply for in your home country and can use funds in your home bank, but it also requires insurance and a police check.

there is now a Non O listed on the Los Angeles Thai consulate website that does not require health insurance or police check

sure. But a Non-O only gives 90 days and you need to then get a 12 month extension inside Thailand as you are doing currently

I read a passage from a man who gets a pension from the VA who showed the letter and showed the deposits and then stopped having to go through the justification each year

No the US Embassy does not issue a financial statement anymore you’ll need the 800k or 12 consecutive monthly transfers of 65k to get a one year extension in Thailand no extensions are granted outside of Thailand

But you say you've got your 2nd extension so have funds in Thailand or transferred funds to Thailand for 12 months. What are you trying to do?

Graham Seal use evidence of my pension as the eternal proof of financial ability instead of the 800,000 or the 65,000 per month methods

Mark Schultz only an Embassy affidavit can do that and the US and many other countries have ceased issuing them

For an initial visa you can use a US bank to get it.

To get extensions in Thailand you’d need money deposited or transferred in to a Thai bank account in your name.

You already have had the visa and are now on extensions of stay.

You can’t use a US bank for further extensions.
