I am hoping to plan a move to thailand in 2025, I have a remote job for which I net over 3000cad/month.
I dont have the saving requirements that I saw online. Is it possible to get a long term visa without having those savings I saw online?
Thanks,

TLDR : Answer Summary
The inquiry is about the possibility of acquiring a long-term visa to Thailand for a move planned in 2025, specifically without meeting certain savings criteria commonly seen in online resources. Several community members responded with insights into the Digital Nomad Visa (DTV) requirements, indicating that having 500,000 baht in the bank is essential along with a monthly income of at least 6,000 baht. Some suggested alternative methods like borrowing funds or using tourist visas to stay longer in Thailand while exploring options.
You have a remote job, and stable income so should have no problem getting the DTV. Good idea to borrow the money to boost your bank balance for the 500K and apply.
you need to be able to show it when you apply. Some places want 3 or 6 months of bank statements but if the closing balance has the money required that's fine
You apply for your DTV then once you have it your wife applies. How each consulate will treat joint accounts will be up to them, they may or may not want to see it doubled just for a single application. That's normally what happens inside Thailand but you'd need to ask the specific consulate you wish to use.
Potentially, but only income brought into Thailand in a year where he is in tax resident is assessable for Thai tax. Then if the country where the income arises has a tax treaty with Thailand he can claim a credit for any tax already paid on that income
- there is no such thing as a Muay Thai visa. Muay Thai is one of the “Soft Power” options under the DTV visa, but again, required 500K in the bank account. I don’t know much about the ED visa, which can be used for Thai language, etc.
