Can I get a 7-day extension on my Volunteer visa in Thailand if my work permit isn't processed in time?

So, due to bad timing, it doesn’t look like I’ll be able to get my work permit processed in time for the end of my visa (Volunteer visa, expires on 17th). What I’d like to know is, is it possible to get a 7 day extension (denial) on this visa, and if so, would the work permit office (Chiang Mai) be able to process my work permit during that extension? Thanks in advance.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking advice on the possibility of obtaining a 7-day extension on their Volunteer visa, which expires soon, due to a delay in their work permit processing. Comments clarify that the 7-day 'extension' is actually a denial period where the visa may not be extended, and the work permit process is independent of the visa status.

The 7 days is NOT an Extension. If you apply and do not meet any requirements your application is NOT approved and you get 7 days to pack your bags and leave the country. You visa status has nothing to do with the process of your work permit.

The Extension of Stay NOT approved stamp can not be extended, you must leave the country.

Ministry of Labor will just continue the process of making your Work Permit even when your stay ends or leave the country.

given a denial, I suppose I wouldn’t be able to extend anyway, regardless of having a work permit - correct?

Understood, hence why I said denial. But this doesn’t answer the question re: work permit application
