TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquires about the possibility of obtaining a one-month visa exempt extension at Chang Wattena immigration office. A commenter clarifies that while a 30-day extension is possible, it must be processed at the Muang Thong Thani office instead of Chang Wattena.

You are able to get 30 day extension but if you came in on a visa exemption you would need to do it at the Muang Thong Thani office, not CW.

She said that I can get a non Ed visa in Pattaya if I pay her 26k. 3 months followed after this 1 month exempt extension. She is claiming that I can’t get the exempt extension if I never reported myself to immigration after asq. What is she talking about😂

Tom Summerson. You're being sucked in. Get a 60-day covid extension for 1900 baht, and possibly pay a 800 baht fine for no TM30. You can do both at MTT. Don't pay
alright, cheers Bobby. so the worst that will happen is a 800 baht fine for no TM30? can I get a 60 day covid extension ignoring the exempt 30 day extension?

Tom Summerson. Depends on the immigration office, but at this point I would be 99.9% sure the covid extensions will be available beyond March, so you'll be able to get one at the end of the 30-day extension. Not filing a TM30 is no major offence. It's actually not your responsibility, but they like to make a bit of extra cash. 800 is the going rate
Tom Summerson. Listen to Michael Dawson. I've got a lot of respect for him. He's one of the first who got back into Thailand last year when border restrictions lifted a little. Instead of sitting around whining of how life sucks and how bad the Thai government was, he just put his head down and found a way back in. And back then it was more difficult than it is now. I'm just pissed that he's got more money than me 🤣🤣

Michael Dawson. I know the maximum fine is 2000 baht, but I've never known anyone get more than 800. They probably think you've got lots of money so they want a slice of it! 🤣
i am definatly going to down dress heavily on this visit then. 😂

brilliant. thanks for your detailed advice, ill just file a report myself when I get there and pay the 800 baht. Yeah I would probably be better doing that. non of the agency chats feel safe tbh. just gives out a bad sort of feeling when dealing with them.
Thats great, youve calmed me down a lot, thanks for that mate. ill go and get the extension a week before my visa ends then. all should be good, I wasn't made aware by them that I needed to fill a tm30 after I left asq. or I would of, silly me.😂

Tom Summerson. Thailand is a country where you don't get spoon-fed, you have to find out things yourself. Unfortunately, too many expats here are more than happy to hand over tens of thousands of baht to agents for visas that are not legit, and once on the agent merry-go-round it's hard to get off, and you'll be forever dipping your hand into your pocket to pay them.
Ill go down the legit language school route for the long term then, I defiantly don't want to be stuck on the agent merry go round forever😂. If an agency and a immigration officer was found out to be doing the illegal dealings. would all the visas issued by the certain officer be then revoked or what?
Bobby ********
Tom Summerson. Probably unlikely, but you would never know. If you can do it legally in Thailand, then do it legally. It's a lot cheaper and you never have to be concerned of repercussions. As Stuart has said, reputable language schools will act as your agent and get you a legit visa and include it in the price of your course

Of course that’s assuming you’re trying to do it in Bangkok.
thanks Stuart.. I am in touch with a visa agent about a non Ed visa after this also. And she is claiming that I should of reported myself of my where abouts after my asq. I was never informed about this to do this. She’s saying she can make a contract for me a. A condo contract in order to prove I live in the city to get the exempt extension. Is she just trying to make money or is it legit?
two options. File a report by yourself and pay the fine for not reporting or stay at a hotel for a night and ask them for a screen print of them filing a report for you (the systems been down for two weeks so that may not be viable). You can apply for an education visa yourself with the help of an official language school and not have to pay any agency fees. If you’re trying to stay here long term using an agent then expect to pay their fees. Beware not all agents are legit. Some are. Some aren’t. I can’t recommend one over the other. I’d recommend finding a way to stay not using an agent at all as a preference.
