Can I Extend My Non-Immigrant O Visa in Thailand and Ensure Guardianship of My Child?

Hi,

I am British currently in Thailand on amnesty from a 90 day Non Imm O visiting family visa (my wife) extended once for 60 days in Nakhon Si Thammarat expired 8th May 2020.

Two questions:

#1 Does anyone have any experience of whether or not NST Immigration will extend another 60 days, I understand some Immigration Offices will, they won’t here in Phuket.

#2 I was legally married in Thailand (and ainwas in Thailand on a Non Imm O visa) when our daughter was born and my name is on her birth certificate. Do I need to take any other steps to ensure guardianship is jointly mine?

Thank you in advance,

Dan

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquires about extending their 90-day Non-Immigrant O visiting family visa in Nakhon Si Thammarat, as they were informed that extensions may differ by location. They also seek guidance on ensuring joint guardianship of their child, given their legal marriage in Thailand at the time of birth.

Are you still legally married to a Thai ? The way you worded your question makes me wonder if you are still married.

On point 2 no further action needed, being married to the mother at time of birth legitimised paternity. So your best bet is to apply for the 1 year extension based on Thai child as the 400k only has to be in your bank on the day that you apply

You can get ONE 60 day visit thai family extension per entry so you're done with them. NO immigration office will issue it two times on the same entry

Seeing as that 60 day stamp ran out you are now on amnesty and the only extensions available to you right now is one based on marriage to a thai by showing the 400K baht in the bank account in your name for 2 months before you apply for the extension OR raising half thai children, which require the same 400K baht in the bank just not for two months.

ok awesome on the 400k for a day will do that if they don’t accept the average monthly bank income of >40k letter.
