Hi, I just received my visa for a 90 day stay in your lovely country. Oct 28 to Jan 26th.
Can I extend this at the consulate for another 30 days
before Jan 26?
Thank-you
Answer summary
The user has a visa that seems to allow entry into Thailand for 90 days, but there is confusion regarding its specifics. Comments indicate that this may actually be a single entry tourist visa valid for entry for 90 days, but only granting a 60-day stay upon arrival, which can be extended for another 30 days at an immigration office for a fee of 1900 Baht. Several users clarify this distinction and suggest checking the visa details to ensure proper understanding.

Anutin has cut access to Thailand by shortening visas so tourists can't avoid Western winters unless they go to Vietnam which they are doing in ever increasing numbers (15% up.)
No, you cannot extend a 90-days Non-Imm-Visa type with 30 more days. You can only get it extended for one year, given you can fulfill the requirements . . . . I think you have a 60-days single entry Tourist Visa, and you are confusing the visa validity (you have 90 days from issue date to enter Thailand) with the admitted stay period, which is 60 days. And you don't extend it with 30 more days on any consulate, but on an Immigration office for 1900 Baht
You are confusing the 90 day validity period of the visa with the 60 day stay that it grants. It does not give you a 90 day stay. Think of your evisa as the equivalent of a gift card to a store that expires in 3 months. This means you can redeem the $60 value of the gift card before it expires. Same idea. The two dates shown on your evisa are the dates the visa was granted and the last date you can use it for your single entry to Thailand. It does not mean you get stamped in uotil the expiration date shown on your evisa
The 90 days is the time which you have to enter Thailand - you will only get a 60 day stamp which you could extend for 30 days.
If you're over 50, you can get a retirement Visa once in Thailand which will give you the time you want; however, there are many requirements to get that.
So plan accordingly and get flight that is no more than 90 days for leaving if not considering a retirement Visa. You can leave and return under Visa Exemption, either after 60 days or 90 days to get your full 120 day stay (even 150 days if you time it correctly 60+ 30, then 30+30). You don't have to return home, just another SEA country.
It’s a single entry 60 day max stay tourist visa, if you want to stay longer, you can apply at the local immigration office pay B1900 it’s not guaranteed of course but if you were granted a 60 day one, you shouldn’t have a problem just ensure you have proof of onward flight ticket..never over stay either
A single entry tourist visa definitely says 90 days, but this is the time you have to enter the country at which time you get 60 day stay which you can extend at immigration for another 30 days after paying 1900 baht.
That doesnt sound like a 90 day visa? The dates you have are the time you have to enter thailand. Once you enter thailand you will then be stamped in for 60 days if I assume you have a tourist visa i.e. 60 days. You can extend this at immigration before your stamp expires
I applied Oct 7 and they asked Oct 28 for more proof of 90 day accommodations and approved right after I uploaded the document. I leave Nov 1. When are you leaving?
But, unless you have made repeated entries and prolongations last year or so, you can leave to a neighbour country for a couple of days and get 30 new days visa exempt when you return.
Kathy Marie Buehler no, it doesn’t. It says that you need to enter Thailand within 90 days. Anytime from 28 oct to 26 Jan and from day you enter Thailand you will get 60 days stamp.
For example of you enter Thailand on 01.12. You’ll get a stamp that you can stay in Thailand till 30.01.
Even you enter last possible day on 26.01. you’ll get a 60 days stamp till aprox 25.03.
90 days as validity of your visa while actual stay in Thailand is max 60 days
Kathy Marie Buehler thats EXACTLY what everyone has been telling you! You have 90 days to enter Thailand and will be stamped in for 60 days when you enter.
Kathy Marie Buehler That is not a 90 day visa, it is a 60 day single entry tourist visa. You are confusing the 90 day validity period with the actual 60 day activation date.
The dates you have been issued 28th Oct to 25th Jan is a 90 day window that you must enter Thailand. Whatever day you arrive within that timeframe will activate your visa and you will be given a 60 day stamp from date of entry. Hope that helps 🙂
Kathy Marie Buehler how long did it take you to get your approval? We just applied for the 60 day out of Ottawa. ( Applied October 14th) We leave on NOVEMBER 30th. Thank you ☺️
Graham Seal yes, the picture she posted she had the validity dates circled as proof she got a 90 day stay. A lot of people get confused by the validity dates and think they will be stamped in for 90 days.
Kathy Marie Buehler you are confusing the visa validity (you have 90 days from issue date to enter Thailand) with the admitted stay period, which is 60 days. And you don't extend it with 30 more days on any consulate, but on an Immigration office for 1900 Baht
Kathy Marie Buehler it's valid for 90 days since emission. You have to enter during these 90 days in Thailand to get 60 days stamped in.
You can ask at immigration 30 days before ending (some immigrations is 45 days (Phuket) and some only 14 days) an extension of 30 days (which is added to your initial stamp).
Kathy Marie Buehler when you have less than 30 days left on your entry stamp you can apply for the 30 day extension. It is added to your 60 day entry stamp so you don't lose any days applying early.
Kathy Marie Buehler You confuse things the data on the visa is the time in between you may ENTER Thailand The moment you enter Thailand you are 60 days allowed to stay, which can be extended in the local immigration office for another 30 days After that date you got to leave. Check your airline because most are asking an outbound ticket before 60 days of your starting flight and will not let on the plain if you do not got it. The resolution for that problem is to book a refundable outbound ticket or a cheap trow away outbound ticket . I would look more closely to all immigration rules before applying for a Visa
No, the 30 day extension is a tourism extension and 90 day Non-O visas which I assume you have are Non-Immigrant visas, not tourism. You get 12 month extensions by meeting the requirements which usually requires seasoned (2 months) funds in a Thai bank account.
