I have a US passport. if I come in now without a visa I know itโ€™s 45 days. Can I extend it at immigration?

Do I need a visa to come in if I want to do a ED visa?

TLDR : Answer Summary
If you enter Thailand with a US passport without a visa, you will receive a 45-day stamp under the visa exempt entry program. This stamp can be extended once for an additional 30 days at an immigration office for a fee of 1900 baht. Although you do not need to enter the country on a visa to apply for an Educational (ED) visa, it is important to ensure that you have sufficient time for your school to process the required paperwork.

What are you talking about
@George *********
?

You cannot extend two times for 30 days each ๐Ÿ˜• ,

You can get ONE 30 day extension PER visa exempt entry, period end of story.

You will get stamped in on the visa exempt entry program (the free entry stamp) for 45 days and you can extend that ONE time for 30 days at the immigration office where you stay for 1900baht

You do not need to enter on a visa to apply for an ED visa, BUT you need enough time so your school can get the paperwork etc so you can apply.

You need to be talking to the school you're going to enroll in about that.
