Has anybody deposited their 400000 in a fixed term deposit at a Thailand bank , or isn’t that allowed?
Answer summary
The discussion revolves around whether depositing 400,000 THB in a fixed term deposit at a Thai bank is acceptable for visa requirements. Most commenters agree that it's allowed, but the funds must be instantly accessible for visa applications, even if that incurs a penalty for early withdrawal. Different experiences with various immigration offices in Thailand are shared, noting that rules can vary by location and that ensuring instant access to funds is critical.

Chiang mai immigration advised me to open a fixed account told me easier for me and easier for them
I’ve had 400k in a 3 month fixed deposit account for 15 years with no problems. The 3 month A/c gives a 1.25% benefit which is crap but better than nothing. Money can only be withdrawn with 3 month notice so not sure where this instant availability comes from?
When I tried 13 years ago, Jontien Immigration wouldn't allow it. So I had to do a border run until regular account had the funds for the required time.
Robert Dawson Jr. Exactly who in the world is going to have 800k Sitting without interest you lose about 60k+ Yearly in any kind of bulletproof safe interests anywhere, getting robbed and laughed at if you choose to have 800k sitting without a good amount of yearly interest lol
I asked Chonburi immigration in Jomtien, they said it's ok. But if you're transferring the funds from your existing account it must be out and in the new account on same day.
I would ask you immigration. They are the ones that will accept your visa application. I don't know how it works. Never had to do it. But something my husband told me when we just moved here was to always ask at the branch. Because every branch will have their own rules. It can even depend on which staff you ask sometimes
Chris Coxsedge Thanks Chris, the Kasikorn 12 month Fixed deposit doesn't allow addition of funds in the fixed term period. Maybe possible in the following years. I will visit Hua Hin immigration in advance to find out the exact requirements "on that day!"
Chris Coxsedge Even if it's wrong, you're quite a proletarian. shitty character. Probably minimum formation and thatch stupid. Such proletuses can actually be found politically on the right. If nobody told you that, it's high time for that.
