Answer summary
When extending a visa in Thailand, particularly for retirees, it is crucial to be aware of specific documentation requirements that can vary by immigration office. Many expats have noted that the bank letter must now be dated the same day as the visa extension application, which can be inconvenient. Additionally, some offices may require further documentation like the landlord's ID or tax ID if the landlord is a foreigner. It is recommended to check with the local immigration office just before applying to ensure you have the correct and up-to-date requirements, as they may change yearly.

Basically the same year after year, unless your local immigration adds something extra which the can do. You are best to go check with them when it's near time for your yearly extension. Just a small thing you aren't actually renewing your visa as it expires you are extending the conditions of your original via.

Assuming the rules dont change in the year ( they could ) and you are applying in the same place ( there might be small differences) . Best get a list from reception each time beforehand.

There getting a little tougher every year now this year I needed everything plus my landlords ID copy of housebook and company papers and this year I’m hearing that they might want a Tax ID # if your landlord is a foreigner

You have 30 or 45 days to do your extension depending on the office. Go as early as possible and you will have time to deal with unexpected changes.

I heard that the letter from the bank has to be got on the same day you go to Immigration for renewal. That s a little inconvenient. Just checking the veracity of it as last year I got my bank letter a day or two before. I do the renewal at Bangkok immigration.

Rules are generally the same until there not. Rules have been know to change periodically. And it's best practice to go to the immigration office that serves you (as some offices may have unique difference, if only subtle) to see what the requirements are before beginning the/any process.

this is a general list of the requirements to get a year extension of stay based on retirement. It is NOT office specific, but it'll get you in the ball park :)

Actually you're not renewing anything :O The visa runs out when the visa runs out. You apply for a year "extension of stay" each year

You do that every year, year after year. It's usually the exact same paperwork (unless your immigration office added something :O ).

You should always go in to your immigration office well before you're going to apply for a new yearly extension and get the latest hand out listing the requirements (just in case something has changed)
