Greetings all, my first post. I am aware that you can only cross over by land twice in a calendar year. But I also heard that that law does not apply to ASEAN member nations. That ASEAN nations can cross by land any number of times in a calendar year. Can someone please shed light on this? Many thanks!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The post discusses the entry restrictions for ASEAN nationals crossing into Thailand by land. It clarifies that while most ASEAN countries can enter any number of times without visa restrictions, Filipinos are limited to two entries per year by land. Specific visa exemptions and limits vary by nationality, influenced by bilateral agreements and documentation.

FYI...update report from Amornrat:

From the ASEAN group only Filipino are still limited to 2entry per land without visa.

Others are unlimited (Singapore/Brunei/Indonesia added last year).

Myanmar need visa to enter by land, “unlimited” by air 14days).

What is your nationality?

Gigit Sulit you are an experienced border runner and long term (visitor) living in Thailand. Your chances of getting another visa in a neighboring country are limited to nil. Suggest you return home and try to obtain the correct visa for your living in Thailand.

Benjamin has said do a border run in January...but you state not possible to wait that long.

You may wish to chat with Amornrat about your next step...

Good Luck...

It depends on the country.

Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Singapore qualify for the 30 day visa exemption but explicitly don't have the 2 per year restriction.

The Philippines gets the 30 day visa exemption but does have the 2 per year restriction.

Laos and Vietnam get a 30 day visa waiver under bilateral agreement rather than a visa exemption, the policy towards these may depend on the border, I do not know. I think Laotians at least can come in from Laos. Cambodia gets 14 days under bilateral agreement. Myanmar I think get zero exempts by land, I think they need to fly in if they don't have a visa. I think there is no formal limit on any of these, but that doesn't necessarily mean unlimited at any border, but that it is up to the discretion of the IO.

I'm not 100% on every country, particularly the details for the bilateral treaty ones but if YOU are from the Philippines, I am pretty sure you are limited to 2 land entries per year. The Philippines was on the original document about that, and while Malaysians were exempted from the 2 per year limit from the start, and Indonesia/Malaysia/Brunei were more recently, the Philippines was not. And I also know at least one Filippino they did do the (1) (2) marking on his land border bounces same as they do for a Westerner.
