Topic- health insurance for OA visa renewal requirements.

Does anyone know if I’m able to buy outpatient insurance from a different company as my inpatient? I’ve always paid out of pocket for outpatient stuff since it’s affordable so all I want is the absolute cheapest outpatient insurance that meets the gov requirements. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

Thanks

Hi Karen I work for Pacific Cross Health Insurance based in Bangkok. You will need to have the inpatient and outpatient with the same company as they will require to see it on the Visa Insurance certificate. Pm me for more details.

Follow up: does anyone know what happens if you’re denied insurance from these 13 due to prior health conditions? Thanks

They are going to exempt ALL your pre-existing conditions believe me none of them will be covered.

BUT

You need to be talking to the insurance companies about insurance NOT asking about it on the thai VISA advice page :O

I gave you the link to the 13 companies that offer the insurance, start pounding the phones and talking to them.

A good friend of mine - back in early November 2019 went to the LA Thai Consulate. He presented his application for an O-A Visa, paid the fee and presented his proof of health insurance. He gave the Consulate officer a copy of his Insurance Policy which was a year long Travel Insurance policy purchased on the Internet for $110. The Officer looked at it and said he would have to have the Big Boss upstairs take a look. The Big Boss did review it by Internet search. Checked out the company - policy wording and coverage. Being satisfied the Big Boss approved it. My friend got the big O-A sticker in his passport. He entered Thailand in late November - stamped in for one year.

Can you find out what company he was using?

thanks Joe but I actually want real inpatient insurance from a reputable company. I’m just bummed because I think that company will charge a lot for the outpatient portion.

your other choice is to "break the chain" of extensions from the O-A, get a new Non-O visa and then a yearly extension from that seeing as extensions from O visas don't need insurance.

I hate that option. But thanks for the advice!!

If your looking towards insurance for extension purposes, you need to have one of the policys from the link Todd has posted above

since you are asking for a renewal of your O/A omitted stay, only the 12 companies listed on the tgia insurers list, are accepted for an extension. And their policies all include both outpatient and inpatient already

they added another company recently
@Gre***
it's 13 companies now :O

nope, you carry the complete thai insurance from one of the 13 approved providers AND it has to be good for the entire year you're extension is valid for or you don't get the next extension.

Pacific Cross will sell you a 300K baht deductible policy that meets the requirements.

here's the link to the companies you need to use:
