Hello

I have a question about a work permit, I am aware of some jobs that are forbidden in Thailand to foreigners such as woodworking, pottery, architecture etc... My question is can they apply for a work permit on the grounds that they are a teacher in this field and only instructing students? If this is possible does anyone know what is involved for the individual or company?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The post seeks clarification on whether a foreigner can apply for a work permit in Thailand to teach in fields that are generally forbidden for foreigners, like woodworking or pottery. The discussion includes advice on consulting the Ministry of Labor regarding requirements to apply and mentions that it's possible to obtain a work permit as a teacher or consultant. There are also references to visa options, specifically the Non-O visa, related to personal circumstances such as marriage to a Thai national or having a Thai child.

But as explained, how to get a work permit is not Thai visa related.

Sorry, I did explain the way where to get the information.

Good luck

I did have Work Permits in Thailand,

I had one before I was married and even after I married.

I had one but still do not have children.

I do not have bachelor degree.

I never contacted schools to teach,

I visited the Ministry of Labor and all above are not relevant to obtain a Work Permit.

you are always so correct.

I suggest you contact Thailand Technical Schools and see if they are interested in hiring you as a Teacher. There are many fine trade schools.

BTW...do you have a Bachelor's Degree?

had replied to you...

"You can get a year-long, multi-entry Non-immigrant Type O visa from the thai consulate in Penang Malaysia by showing the birth certificate with your name on it, the mother's thai i/d, the house book listing and 400K baht (or the equivalent) in a bank account in your name (it doesn't have to be in a thai bank).

This visa requires you exit/re-enter the country every 90 days to get another 90 day stamp. You do that for the whole year the visa is valid for. You can get 15 months of stay (in 3 month increments) out of it.

That is the ONLY consulate you can get that visa from in S/E Asia. All the other consulates in the area will only issue a 90 day, single entry Non-O visa.

Unfortunately because you had the child out of wedlock you cannot get any yearly extension based on supporting children from the immigration office inside the country. That's because when children are born out of wedlock the father has NOT parental rights. (NO matter if your name is on the birth certificate or the child has a passport from your country) 100% of the parental rights are granted to the mother.

The only way to get recognized as the legal father is to go thru family court and get recognized that way. Once you are recognized as the legal father and granted parental rights you can then use the child as the reason to get a year-long extension of stay inside the country at the immigration office."

Have you married your Thai partner yet? If so, you can obtain a work permit.

You have a Thai child...you are Australian....

And can obtain a Non O visa in Savannakhet...as told you before in your prior post in 2018.

What visa are you now on ?

If any....???

You can get a work permit for being a teacher, or a consultant the last time I checked.

You visit the Ministry of Labor in your area and ask if you can apply for a Work Permit as teacher to teach a forbidden job for foreigners.

They will tell you yes or no and if yes, they can give you the requirements needed to apply.

This list you give to your employer or your business partners and they can apply for the work permit. If you have the permit in your pocket you can start to work.
