Quick question. Digital nomad. No permanent residency anywhere. Can I apply from Kuala Lumpur ?
Answer summary
A user inquired about the possibility of applying for a Thai visa while in Kuala Lumpur, stating they do not have permanent residency in any country. The consensus from comments suggests that applicants must apply for a Thai visa from their home country or a country where they hold permanent residency. If a person is a digital nomad with no such status, they are advised to return to their country of citizenship to submit the application.

Yes you have to spend thousands to fly back home just to press submit on their application website. Then when you get the visa, spend thousands more to buy a ticket to Thailand, the whole time risking your health flying all over the place.

You must go home or any country you have PR. Since you stated you don’t have PR anywhere then you Must go home & stay there until approved.

Anyone can apply from any country of which they are a citizen or hold permanent resident status. Alternatively, some Thai consulates consider that certain types of visas in some countries confer 'permanent residence' status. Cambodia being one. Visa agents offer packages of such routes to DTV.

Look at your passport and see what nation is listed as your nationality. Then fly there. This is a silly question

Fly to where your passport is from and remain there until the visa is issued, you are not a stateless person.

DTV_BegPecker like I haven't lived for more than half my life in my home country so why would I go back there to apply for a Visa next door to where I am at?

MagentaYuzu5267 the same for many people on this page. A topic discussed for the last few months. Clearly meant as a means to slow down applications. Prior to September, you could apply at any neighboring embassy. They basically changed the rules overnight after several people were arrested for illegally working on the visa

Anonymous participant I have to agree, it is a little silly. Unless you were stripped of your citizenship, you have a country of origin that you would need to apply from within, just like myself and everyone else looking to get this visa 🤷

for this case, since they’re claiming not to have PR anywhere, they need to go to passport country of origin
