Be aware...E-Gates are for those who are eligible for VISA EXEMPT ENTRY........
NOT THAI VISA HOLDERS
Answer summary
E-Gates in Thailand are exclusively for individuals eligible for Visa Exempt Entry. Long-term visa holders, such as those with a DTV, should not utilize these gates as it can lead to complications, including potential overstays or incorrect entry stamps. The discussion highlights concerns about the implications of misusing E-Gates and advises visa holders to opt for manned immigration counters instead.

True: E-Gates are currently for visa exempt entry only. Not true: Any long term visa being "gone" or invalidated if E-Gate is used. May result in a wrong stamp and only shorter permitted entry (it is 30 days not 60 days now by the way), but it will not invalidate the visa you hold. So, good advise in parts - but fear mongering and exaggeration.
If only the egates would allow one to scan their DTV QR code. Mind you, the more people without visas going through the egates will presumably shorten the manned immigration counters. Mind you, they then might reduce the number of manned immigration counters in order to save on staffing costs
This matches what a lot of long-stay people quietly do now: skip the eGate ego-win and take a staffed lane when the visa isn’t a simple exempt stamp. Have passport, DTV/approval evidence, and boarding details ready so the officer isn’t reconstructing your story from a machine reject. If you’ve ever been bounced from an automated gate into the queue anyway, you’ve already paid the time cost — better to choose the lane that matches your status on purpose.
