Anyone here opened a Wise account in Thailand as business/freelancer to receive money and then get a virtual card to pay your payment since you can’t open a traditional bank?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The conversation revolves around the challenges and possibilities of opening a Wise account in Thailand for freelancers to receive payments and obtain a virtual card. It highlights that Wise does not support Thai bank account details and does not issue cards to those registered in Thailand. Users suggest alternatives, such as setting up the account from their home country and having the card forwarded. Some users mention that Wise can still be used to hold Thai Baht and pay local businesses, but it is not a traditional banking solution.
I've been using the Wise Debit Card, and it's quite useful when it comes to converting to Thai Baht. I have several bank accounts in Thailand.

I use wise. I use it to pay my rent in Thailand. I have the card on my phone to pay for things I can pay for where they take credit cards. I just transfer from my Canadian account and convert to thai baht.

I use wise and transfer money to Moreta Pay for Thai QR payment

You can open a Wise account linked to your bank in your home country. Then you can transfer money into it and Wise will convert it to Thai Baht and pay the various Thai businesses or even individuals that have accounts at all the major Thai banks.

What is Thai wise account? It’s a Thai bank account or a wise account

by that logic, there is no Thai bank account. Either bank account or no bank account.
when you down Wise then you can choose country to register your account in.

Wise doesnt support Thai accounts. You can only convert your currency to Thai Baht and use it to pay Thai local banks for example.

WISE is not even a classic "bank", it only is a service provider.
how old is your information? On wise app it says wise is available in Thailand, so you can’t get an IBAN OR SWIFT with wise you mean? Like virtual debit card you can withdraw or pay from your deposit account?

You can hold THB in Wise, but it does not have IBAN or Swift or any sort of account details letting you deposit THB into Wise.
You'll need to put another currency into Wise, and then convert it to THB.
You can *use* the card in Thailand, but you can not get the card if you reside in Thailand.
These are the countries currently eligible for their card
i don’t need THB, my currency is USD. So again my question is if I can open an wise account in Thailand as business/freelancer account and then transfer money from Payoneer to wise and then spend that money on my wise account with an virtual card? Again I don’t need Thai baht and I’m not interested either to connect to my home country bank account with wise.

then no since Wise Cards in Thailand are not offered

You can probably open an account while in Thailand.
But if Thailand is the country listed as your main country in Wise, you will not be able to get a card, as Wise does not offer cards to Thai residents.
You need a Wise account registered in a supported country to get a physical card.
You should be able to get a virtual card though.

I always do Wise but Thailand isn't supported. You should sign up from your home country and put the addy as a friend. That's what I did. He forwarded the card onto me.
On Wise app and their website Wise is available in Thailand.

I tried to update my address to Thailand and order a card and it said can't to Thailand. If they've changed that I'd be very happy coz it's annoying I need a new card I got phished
but if you open in my home country then they consider me as tax resident in my country? Right? Because I don’t want to have any tie with my home country as I don’t want be considered tax resident. So how to do it?

ThoughtfulLychee5096 for that if it was me, due to your circumstances I'd contact one of those Thai places for expats to help with TM30 and Visa's etc. but it's kinda a virtual account so anything you do with Wise doesn't get recorded and fed to your tax agent in your country (that's what it's like for me in Australia), but I'm a tax resident still coz my income comes into my Aus bank account and then I transfer to Wise and withdraw at ATM or use the card wherever it's accepted without a currency conversion fee. The max limit for withdrawal via Wise card at ATM is around $5K USD per month.

I can hold Thai baht in my account if that’s what you mean, but it’s not the same as a bank account
